Rocket League tournament Apollo Open starts today
Rocket League fans beware, for the next three days you can fully enjoy the best Rocket League action that Europe has to offer. Today, Saturday and Sunday, the best teams from our continent will decide who will be crowned Europe's champion for the time being.
Last month the European Team BDS won the first international Major of the season in Sweden. In the final they defeated The General NRG from America. This weekend Team BDS will be back in action, but this time in their familiar online environment, can they continue their fantastic form?
Besides top favorite Team BDS, many other teams are eager to show what they can do. Dignitas, with Dutchman Joris ‚Joreuz‘ Robben is seen as an outsider, while Team Vitality is always a contender for the title.
In any case, there is plenty of Dutch action to follow in the coming days. Besides Joreuz, Mike ‚Mikeboy‘ Verkuijlen (Rix.GG), Rix ‚Rix_Ronday‘ Ronday (Coach Williams Resolve), Mitchell ‚Mittaen‘ Driessen (Misfits Gaming) and Justus ‚Justuszzz‘ Zielhuis will also be in action this weekend.
Today the group phase starts at 17:00, it lasts until 20:00. After the group stage the first rounds of the losers‘ bracket are played between the numbers two and three of each group. Saturday and Sunday the rest of the play-offs will follow. The grand finale begins this Sunday at 20:00. The winner of the tournament will receive $30,000 and also a hefty load of points towards qualification for the World Championships and future European tournaments.
