PUBG Mobile announces plans for upcoming esports season
PUBG Mobile has shared its plans for upcoming season. The plans were announced during the World Championship taking place this weekend.
There will be many changes for the upcoming season. For example, there is a new schedule and there will be new regions and tournaments.
Changes
The PUBG Mobile Pro League (PMPL) is undergoing a major change. The format is being changed from the seasonal format to an annual cycle. In addition, the regions within the PMPL are being renamed. EMEA, MENA and SA will be called Europe, South Asia and Middle East & Africa starting next season. There will also be two new two new PMPL regions: PMPL Africa and PMPL Pakistan. This means there are more regions than ever before for fans to enjoy three days a week.
A few things are also changing at the PUBG Mobile Club Open (PMCO). Teams from PMCO Sout America, PMCO Europe, PMCO Africa, PMCO Middle East and PMCO Asia can no longer promote directly to the PMPL. To promote to the PMPL, teams must first go through the PUBG Mobile National Championship.
Amateur and semi-pro teams can participate in PUBG Mobile Esports authorized events throughout the year to qualify for the PMNC at the end of the year. The changes give regions the option to create a broader competition.
PUBG Mobile Global Championship.
This weekend is the PUBG Mobile Global Championship. Each day, the best 16 teams in the world will fight for the title. The event has a prize pool of as much as three million dollars. The tournament can be followed every day from 12:00 from the official YouTube channel of PUBG Mobile Esports.
PUBG Mobile is hugely popular in Asia, so the world championship is dominated by Asian teams. Due to corona and the popularity in that part of the world, this year's world championship is taking place in Singapore.
