Kasparov: from chess to Hearthstone

The chess champion is the protagonist of the new documentary made by Blizzard on Hearthstone.

Protagonist of three decades of chess, Garri Kasparov is considered one of the best chess players in history. He is the youngest to have won the title of world champion at the age of 22 years and 210 days, held continuously from 1985 to 2000. Born in Baku, in the Azerbaijan of the Soviet Union to a Russian father and an Armenian mother, today he is an activist for Russian (and other) rights with Croatian citizenship. Above all, he is the protagonist of Blizzard's new documentary on Hearthstone.

The documentary is inspired by the desire for „revenge“ of Kasparov, who 25 years ago lost against an artificial intelligence and now wants to get redemption on Hearthstone. In fact, the video follows the former world chess champion as he prepares for a clash on the digital card game. „I really enjoyed learning how to play Hearthstone, and not just because I love games and new challenges,“ Kasparov says. „The most interesting thing is that Hearthstone has a semi-open system, unlike most other games, which have a closed system like chess. In Hearthstone, the dynamic of new cards constantly brings a flurry of newness and new strategic and tactical elements, so the value of old cards and decks is not static. These constant changes make Hearthstone difficult to master but incredibly addictive.“
