The best weapons in Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 2

Fortnite has been more popular than ever since the Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 2 update. Many players are returning to Epic Games‘ battle royale. This is partly due to the Fortnite Zero Build gamemode that was originally added to the game temporarily. However, it was recently announced that the gamemode is „here to stay.

A new season always brings a lot of new content. New weapons, grenades and other items, but also weapons are taken out of the vault or put in the vault. For players and especially new or returning players, it can be difficult to determine which weapons to use. In this article, we will discuss which weapons from Chapter 3 Season 2 we think are the strongest.

While some weapons may not suit your playstyle there are always meta weapons that stand out above the rest. Last season, many players opted for a close range set-up. Shotguns and SMGs dominated the meta. Often players would walk around with both a Shotgun and a Stinger SMG. Shotgun and SMG are also a strong choice this season, but there are other options with the new Assault Rifles and Snipers.

Best weapons in Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 2

Assault Rifles

To show the contrast with last season, we start with the Striker Burst Rifle. The new AR from Chapter 3 Season 2 is the replacement for the MK-Seven Assault Rifle. It is a two-shot semi-automatic weapon that does a lot of damage per shot. The AR has a scope that makes it easy to hit your shots at long range. Therefore, the Striker Burst Rifle is a strong choice for long range combat. For people who prefer an automatic weapon in the other AR. the Ranger Assault Rifle is also a good choice. However, this weapon does less damage and is less accurate with hip fire. Later in the season, the Combat Assault Rifle or the Red-Dot AR will return through the Funding Station Vote.

Submachine guns

Last season, the Stinger SMG dominated the map. As a result, the expectation was that the weapon would be grafted or perhaps end up in the vault. However, nothing came of it. In contrast to modifying the weapon, Epic Games has added a new SMG that seems to be just as good. Players will have two choices when it comes to SMGs starting this season. The newly added Combat SMG has an insane fire rate and does more damage with headshots making the weapon immensely strong at close range. The high fire rate does make the weapon a bit harder to control.

For players who find the Combat SMG too difficult to control, the old trusty Stinger SMG is the best choice. The Stinger is strong on close to mid range combat due to being easier to control than the Combat SMG. The 30-round mag gives players enough bullets to take out opponents easily. In addition, many people are used to the Stinger because it was used so much last season.

Shotguns

There are three shotguns that players can choose from: the Striker Pump, Drum Shotgun and Auto Shotgun. For us, the Striker Pump stands out above the rest. This is partly because the Auto and Drum Shotguns have major drawbacks. The Auto Shotgun has a tremendously long reload time which leaves you vulnerable for a long time. The Drum Shotgun is more of a spray and pray weapon and you don't need that if you already have an AR or SMG in your loadout. The Striker Pump offers the best of both worlds, it has close range damage and has a shorter reload than its peers.

Sniper

The Sniper offerings in Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 2 are sparse. The Storm Scout Sniper Rifle returns, but nothing beats the Hunter Bolt-Action Sniper Rifle. The weapon does massive damage at long range and has three bullets in the magazine giving players multiple chances to kill an opponent. The Hunter is also more common than the Storm Scout, making it easier for players to get to know the weapon well and get its full potential out of it.

Chapter 3 Season 2

Currently we feel these are the best weapons for each weapon category. There are undoubtedly going to be new weapons added to Season 2 which could potentially change the meta. Epic Games likes to change things about the popular battle royale. Currently, it is already known that through Funding Station Votes, Epic Games is going to give in-game players the ability to retrieve certain weapons. To date, it is only known that this will involve an Assault Rifle, but perhaps more weapons will be added in the future.
