Apex Legends changes Mozambique due to April 1 joke

Respawn Entertainment's April 1 prank for April Fools Day may be one of the best in the first-person shooter genre, after one of the game's most hated guns, the Mozambique, was turned into a Nessie launcher. Nessies can be found all over the Apex Legends map and look a lot like cuddly toys from the famous Loch Ness monster.

The easter egg has been a recurring theme since the Titanfall days and even appears in one of Wattson's emotes. But on April 1, the developers decided to take the easter egg to a whole new level.

Respawn turns Mozambique into Nessie launcher

Instead of firing real bullets with the Mozambique, the gun now resembles the Snowball Launcher once seen in Fortnite Battle Royale. But instead of snowballs, green Nessie's come flying out! The change may come as a surprise to Apex Legends players who haven't checked their calendars, as this is obviously an April 1 joke by the developers.

To be honest, it doesn't seem like this modification is a very big upgrade for the Mozambique. The weapon was already known as one of the worst weapons in Battle Royale, and the Nessi launcher hasn't really changed this. In the comments under AlphaINTEL's post on Twitter, one user joked, „That Revenger seemed really threatened by the Nessie Launcher.“ Moments later, the player using the launcher was attacked by the green monsters.

It is not yet clear how long this update will stay in Apex Legends, but there is little chance that the change will stay for long after April 1.
