Sentinels at home: Kru stuns at Valorant Champions

Fairy tales do exist, and sometimes they come true when we least expect it. Because Kru Esports, an Argentine organization whose founders and owners include the footballer „El Kun“ Aguero, has accomplished one of the feats that will remain forever in the history (albeit still short) of competitive Valorant: eliminating from contention the Sentinels, a North American organization among the favorites for the conquest of the first historical world tactical shooter of Riot Games.

Kru Esports came out victorious after a hard-fought match, which ended only at the third map and with continuous back and forth, comebacks, matches that seemed to be headed and then recovered by both sides. Entered in the Group, Kru and Sentinels were playing for access to the playoffs or elimination. Kru had first lost to Liquid and then won with Brazil's Furia, while Sentinels had defeated Furia in the first round and raised the white flag against Europe's Liquid in the second.

The match was decided on Split after the Sentinels‘ early lead over Fracture 13-7 and the Kru's tie came on Haven 13-11. With the same score Split ended with the Kru able to recover a disadvantage of 4-8 and to bring the score on 11-11 before winning the decisive round, go ahead in economy and snatch a historic victory for the entire South American movement and minor regions in particular. The Sentinels go back home with their tails between their legs, aware of having offered a poor and inconstant performance from many points of view. For them, a year that started with many successes ends in the worst way.

The Kru will face the Fnatic in the next round. In the meantime, Acend have also qualified for the playoffs from Group A thanks to their victory over Envy, allowing the EMEA region to place all four of their teams in the first seed of each group. Today the last matches of the rounds, as always starting at 3pm, in Italian on Agents Range.
