Pokémon Europe International Championships announced

From April 22 through April 24, the Pokémon Europe International Championships will take place. In Frankfurt, different groups of Pokémon fans will compete for cool prizes. In addition to Pokémon Go, competitions in the Trading Card Game, video games and Pokkén Tournament DX will also be played.

The Pokémon Go event uses the format of the Great League. In this format, players can only choose Pokémon that have a CP (combat power) of 1500 or lower. The Great League was also the first format within the Go Battle League. Other options include the Ultra League with a 2500 CP restriction and the Master League with no CP restriction.

Here's how the Pokémon Go championship works

The Go Battle League is a way to play Pokémon GO competitively. You do this against players around the world. The league is divided into seasons, and each season you as a player achieve a certain rank. Linked to your rank and the number of matches won, you get a number of in-game rewards.

The participants will play on Friday, April 22 in age-based leagues: over 18 years and under 18 years. A ‚best of 3′ format will be used for the first matches. The finals of the winners‘ and losers‘ round will use a ‚best of 5‘ format. This format is also used in the grand final.

The players compete against each other on phones provided by the organization. On these phones the players have to log into their accounts themselves. Once logged in, various prizes are competed for. These are cash prizes and invitations to other (international) tournaments.
