Nuguri back at DWG KIA after his competitive break?

While he had decided to take a break after his difficult year in China, Nuguri could well make his return to competition. The South Korean is announced at DWG KIA, with whom he was crowned world champion in 2020.

King of the toplane and world champion in 2020, Jang „Nuguri“ Ha-gwon had decided to join China and the LPL in 2021. He had then joined FunPlus Phoenix, 2019 world champion, to restore the colors of a structure that had sunk in 2020. However, not everything went as planned and Nuguri and his teammates completely sank during the 2021 Worlds. The Chinese structure was a finalist in the LPL Summer Split, but fell to DWG KIA, Cloud9 and Rogue.

Following this misadventure, he was not retained by FPX and announced that he would take a competitive break in 2022. While he had received many offers, including one from his former team, DWG KIA, he preferred to rest for a year. However, it seems that he misses the lack of competition and he would like to make his return at the Summer Split.

According to our colleagues of Korizon, Nuguri would have even found a team. This one would be none other than DWG KIA, which continues to look at its former prodigy of the toplane. The season of the double finalist structure of the Worlds was disappointing since it did not even reach the final of LCK. There were several weaknesses, especially on the toplane side, which failed to respond despite two players in this position, Noh „Burdol“ Tae-yoon and Yoon „Hoya“ Yong-ho.

It remains to be seen if this information will be confirmed, but if it does, it would be a definite improvement for Kim „Canyon“ Geon-bu and his teammates in their quest for a new world championship title. It would also bring tougher competition for T1, who has not lost a single BO during this season in the LCK and who appears to be an ogre against his rivals.
