Aurora's Debut at This Year's Worlds

Aurora will be making her highly anticipated appearance in this year’s Worlds tournament, thanks to the new changes in LoL patch 14.18. Notably, the range of her wall-jumping ability has been reduced. This adjustment requires players to be more tactical, reducing her ability to catch opponents off guard from unexpected angles. Additionally, previous competitive issues with Aurora's interaction with Chronobreak have been addressed, making her eligible for competitive play once again.

Role Changes in LoL patch 14.18 for Worlds 2024

Top Lane

Top lane will see the introduction of several situational picks, such as Malphite, Jax, Gnar, and Shen. Rumble will be hit with a nerf, while Nasus remains mostly unchanged but continues to be a viable situational pick.

Jungle

Jungle variety is being enhanced with adjustments to top-tier champions. Viego, Jarvan-IV, and Xin Zhao are specifically targeted to provide more AD options and balance the dominance of AP champions.

Mid Lane

Ahri’s reappearance in the mid lane is a significant feature, along with indirect buffs to Syndra and Orianna. Recently strengthened champions like Ryze, Lissandra, and Twisted Fate also remain solid picks.

However, Azir faces a nerf to his ultimate, Emperor’s Divide, requiring players to adapt by using alternative runes like Conqueror. AD mid lane champions such as Smolder, Zeri, and Corki are also receiving direct nerfs.

Bot Lane

The bot lane meta continues to focus on utility due to the prevalence of carries in the mid lane. Jinx receives buffs to bolster her viability, and Samira gets boosted early damage. Meanwhile, Miss Fortune’s first item and base AD are being scaled back, and Varus and Ziggs are also facing nerfs.

Support

The support role remains stable, with ranged supports still performing well in solo queue. Consequently, top-tier champions like Rell and Leona are getting nerfed, while Lulu is receiving buffs.
