CS:GO: Omaken Sports Acquires Heroic

Just days before its entry into the Katowice SMI, Heroic announced that it had been acquired by Omaken Sports, a company from the NoobworK youtuber.

With the team set to begin one of the major competitions of the year on CS:GO, Heroic announced that it has been acquired by Omaken Sports. The amount of the acquisition was not disclosed, but the company's recent €15 million fundraising campaign certainly contributed to the buyout.

Founded in 2016, Heroic is one of the world's top teams on the Valve FPS and this acquisition should enable it to become one of the major organizations in the world of esport. The company will integrate Heroic's management and roster on CS:GO, although the team name will not change in competition.

As Erik Askered said in the official release, the acquisition is intended to allow Heroic to expand into new games even though no names have been leaked. The team has performed very well in recent months, winning the ESL One Cologne 2020 and the DreamHack Open Fall against Vitality both times. Now it's time for the IEM Katowice, where Heroic will need to perform well if it wants to remain in the top five on CS:GO.
