TFT Patch 17.4 Notes: Full Breakdown of Changes

Riot Games has released the full details for Teamfight Tactics patch 17.4, outlining targeted balance adjustments and system changes. You can expect updates designed to keep team compositions viable rather than removing them from play entirely.

This patch also signals the return of the Primordian Queen to relevance, addressing her recent absence from the meta. As you review the changes, you will see a clear focus on maintaining competitive diversity while refining underperforming options.

TFT Patch 17.4 Notes

Patch 17.4 strengthens several underperforming champions while trimming back a few dominant picks. You gain more viable carry and frontline options across multiple tiers, and some earlier nerfs have been partially undone to reopen specific compositions.

Bel’Veth receives a direct damage boost, reversing part of the previous reduction. Her spell AD ratio rises from 18/27/41/69 to 20/30/45/77, making her late-game scaling more reliable and restoring her place in Primordian-focused builds.

Jax no longer scales his flat damage reduction with Ability Power. Instead, you get fixed values of 20/25/30 based on star level, replacing the previous AP-based scaling. This change removes niche AP itemization, such as Crownguard setups, and pushes you back toward standard bruiser builds.

Tier 1 Adjustments

Champion Change
Aatrox Healing increased to 325/400/650 AP
Twisted Fate (Min Damage) 190/285/430/730 AP
Twisted Fate (Max Damage) 380/570/860/1460 AP

You will notice stronger early combat stability from Aatrox. Twisted Fate also hits harder at both ends of his damage range, improving his consistency as a flexible AP carry.

Tier 2 Adjustments

  • Bel’Veth spell AD ratio increased
  • Gnar base attack speed: 0.7 → 0.75
  • Gwen resists: 45 → 50
  • Gwen spell damage (3★+): 410/700 AP at higher ranks
  • Jax flat damage reduction reworked
  • Zoe spell ratio increased to 73/110/180 AP

You gain stronger mid-game tempo through improved attack speed and durability. Gwen and Zoe scale more effectively into later stages.

Tier 3 Adjustments

Champion Change
Aurora Split damage increased to 400/600/960 AP
Lulu Stun duration reduced to 0.25s
Miss Fortune (Replicator) Damage raised to 275/415/660 AD
Ornn Base health increased to 950
Rhaast (Redeemer) Attack speed and bonus resists standardized at 2% / 2
Viktor Spell damage increased to 190/290/500 AP

Lulu and Rhaast lose some utility power, while Aurora, Miss Fortune, Viktor, and Ornn gain stronger combat impact.

Tier 4 Adjustments

  • Corki missile damage reduced to 28/42% AD
  • Corki secondary rocket damage reduced
  • Morgana range lowered to 1, shield scaling increased to 15%
  • Nami mana reduced to 20/65
  • Xayah base AD increased to 52, main target spell damage significantly increased

Corki’s damage falls slightly, reducing his burst potential. Xayah benefits from both higher base AD and stronger spell scaling, giving you a clearer AD carry alternative.

Tier 5 Adjustments

Champion Change
Fiora True damage reduced to 37/56 AD
Graves Attack speed increased to 0.75, falloff per target increased to 60%
Shen Mana adjusted to 20/70, spell damage increased
Zed Clone health increased at higher rank, mana reduced to 40/100

You see light nerfs to Fiora while Graves and Shen gain practical combat improvements. Zed shifts power into faster casts and sturdier clones, altering how you position and itemize him in late-game boards.

Teamfight Tactics patch 17.4 notes

Patch 17.4 shifts the focus toward broader comp diversity. You gain more flexibility as several underused champions and traits receive targeted buffs to help them compete in standard lobbies.

Key system updates include adjustments to core traits:

  • Arbiter: Alters how Input and Output options appear, improving consistency and reducing awkward distributions.
  • Psionic: Updates trait items so you can slot them into more boards without locking yourself into narrow builds.
  • N.O.V.A.: Receives quality-of-life improvements aimed at smoother performance in combat.

These changes push more niche lines into playable territory and give you stronger incentives to explore alternative strategies instead of defaulting to established meta comps.

TFT patch notes: Augments, items, artifacts, and emblems

You see a wide rebalance across combat Augments, with several dominant picks toned down and weaker or niche options strengthened. This shift pushes you to reconsider automatic selections and evaluate boards more carefully.

Augment nerfs target high-performing combat tools:

  • Shieldmaiden (Leona) mana increased: 10/40 ⇒ 20/50
  • Self-Destruct (Gragas) AP ratios reduced: 280/420/630 ⇒ 250/375/600
  • Reach for the Stars (Jax) AP damage lowered: 170/250/450 ⇒ 160/240/420
  • Hold the Line bonus stats trimmed: AD 9% ⇒ 8%, AP 10% ⇒ 9%
  • Group Hug I/II resists reduced: 7 ⇒ 6, 10 ⇒ 9
  • Kahunahuna true damage lowered: 125% AD ⇒ 100% AD
  • Sweet Treats health per item reduced: 20 ⇒ 16
  • Hard Commit gold per stage: 4 ⇒ 3

You also lose early access to Mace’s Will and Sunfire Board on Stage 2-1, limiting early tempo spikes.

At the same time, several Augments gain power or added utility:

  • Charge Transfer I/II damage amp: 5% ⇒ 7%, 8% ⇒ 10%
  • Climb the Ladder I/II stats increased: 3 ⇒ 3.5, 5 ⇒ 6
  • Booster Pack value: 10g ⇒ 12g
  • Heroic Grab Bag gold: 4 ⇒ 5
  • Luxury Subscription payout: 5g ⇒ 7g
  • Heart of Steel scaling health: 12 ⇒ 16
  • Timestream health per reroll: 2 ⇒ 7

Heart of the Swarm now grants two Tiny Duplicators and improves its Apex Primordian with faster attack speed (0.6 ⇒ 0.9) and lower max mana (30/100 ⇒ 30/90).
Exalted Adventure rewards increase by roughly 15%, strengthening long-term value paths.

Radiant items also shift your item priorities.

Radiant Item Change
Adaptive Helm Non-tank AD/AP: 25 ⇒ 40, Mana Regen: 6 ⇒ 7
Dragon’s Claw % Max Health: 22% ⇒ 28%
Gargoyle’s Stoneplate Resists per enemy: 25 ⇒ 20
Guinsoo’s Rageblade AS per second: 14% ⇒ 16%
Nashor’s Tooth On-crit mana: 8 ⇒ 6

You gain stronger scaling on carry-focused Adaptive Helm and Rageblade, while Stoneplate and Nashor’s lose efficiency.

Artifacts receive direct stat increases, making several niche picks more competitive:

  • Blighting Jewel MR reduction: 4 ⇒ 6
  • Ekko’s Patience damage amp: 40% ⇒ 45%
  • Luden’s Tempest AD/AP ratio: 55% ⇒ 60%
  • Yasuo’s Bladework attack speed: 10% ⇒ 20%

Emblems round out the changes. Arbiter Emblem attack speed jumps from 20% to 30%, increasing its offensive value, while Rogue Emblem omnivamp drops from 40% to 25%, reducing sustain-heavy abuse cases.

These adjustments push you toward more varied builds while limiting the most efficient combat stacking options.
