EMEA Masters Winter 2026: Teams, Schedule, and Key Storylines

You will see a broader field at EMEA Masters Winter 2026, as the tournament expands to include 36 of the strongest teams from Europe’s regional leagues. This edition not only increases participation but also raises the stakes for every organization involved.

Your attention should also be on the new qualification route to the Esports World Cup. The top two ERL teams from this event will advance to a dedicated qualifier, where they will face ten LEC teams for a place on the international stage.

EMEA Masters Winter 2026

You follow a 36-team field drawn from the European Regional Leagues, seeded by regional performance. The two best-performing teams earn the right to challenge LEC representatives for a place at the Esports World Cup, scheduled for July 15–19 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The competition runs online from March 9 to April 21, 2026 and uses a three-phase structure.

Event Structure at a Glance

Stage Dates Key Details
Champions Phase From March 9 Top eight ERLs compete in Bo3 series
Group Phase March 10–15 32 teams, double-elimination groups
Playoffs Mar 23–25, Apr 7, 14, 21 Bo3 matches, Bo5 Grand Final

You begin with the Champions Phase, where the eight highest-ranked ERLs face off in best-of-three matches. Four winners move directly into the Playoffs Upper Bracket Round 2.

The remaining teams drop into the Group Phase.

During the Group Phase, 32 teams compete, including the Champions Phase losers and Karmine Corp Blue, which secured participation through the LEC Versus pathway. You watch eight groups of four teams play through a double-elimination bracket. Only each group winner advances.

The Playoffs bring together:

  • 8 Group Phase winners (starting in Upper Bracket Round 1)
  • 4 Champions Phase winners (starting in Upper Bracket Round 2)

All playoff matches use a best-of-three format, except the Grand Final, which uses best-of-five.

If an LEC Academy roster finishes in a qualifying position for the Esports World Cup pathway, you see the slot reassigned to the next highest-ranked non-Academy team.

How the ERL Spring Split Schedule Adjusts in 2026

You will see the Spring Split start three days later than first planned. Organizers pushed the date to give more ERL teams room to compete in the expanded EMEA Masters Winter event.

The extended Winter tournament now overlaps with the early weeks of several regional Spring Splits. At the same time, it acts as Phase 1 of the Esports World Cup online qualifier, which runs alongside both the LEC and ERL competitions.

To reduce scheduling conflicts, officials moved EMEA Masters Winter Playoff matches to Tuesdays. This change limits clashes with regular ERL broadcast days and keeps regional leagues operational during the overlap.

Key adjustments include:

  • Spring Split delayed by three days
  • Winter Masters extended in duration
  • Tuesday-only Playoff matchdays
  • Concurrent operation with LEC and EWC qualifier

You will also notice one competitive absence: Los Ratones, winners of the last two Winter editions, will not return after the project shut down.
