You will soon see team voice chat integrated directly into League of Legends, a feature players have requested for years. Riot Games has begun rolling out and testing in-client voice communication, signaling a shift in how you coordinate with teammates.
With voice comms expected to arrive through an upcoming patch, you may gain the option to join team-based channels rather than rely only on pings and text. Current testing and leaks suggest an opt-in system, giving you more direct control over how you communicate during matches.
Team voice chat in League of Legends soon
You will soon speak directly to your entire team through built-in voice communication. Unlike the current system that limits voice to premade groups, this update expands access to all teammates in a match.
You must enable the feature manually. Find it under the Voice settings tab, where you can turn team chat on or off at any time.
Datamining from the Public Beta Environment shows a fully implemented interface rather than a test fragment. The updated panel includes a VOICE header and two selectable tabs:
- Party – for premade lobby communication
- Team – for full team voice chat
The existing voice system remains, but the interface will adjust to support both options in one unified panel. You can switch between party and team channels directly from this window.
Settings also reference customizable controls. You can assign separate Push-To-Talk (PTT) keybinds for:
| Channel | Custom Keybind Option |
|---|---|
| Party | Yes |
| Team | Yes |
This structure gives you control over when and where your voice transmits.
Riot has also prepared moderation tools. The reporting screen now includes a Voice Comms Abuse category that covers harassment, threats, bullying, and hate speech within team voice chat.
Recent enforcement updates suggest Riot plans to support this rollout with active monitoring and penalties for misconduct. If you prefer not to participate, you can simply leave the feature disabled in your settings.
LoL voice chat: What you can expect
You access team voice through the in-client panel, positioned where the current party voice tool appears. A headset icon lets you show or hide the interface at any time.
You control how you hear your teammates:
- Mute yourself instantly
- Adjust each player’s volume separately
- See who is speaking, even if you are muted
The system focuses on your in-game team rather than external apps, keeping communication inside the match client.
When Will LoL Voice Chat Be Available?
Riot plans to roll out in-game team voice communication as early as Patch 26.5, which is scheduled for March 4, 2026. If testing stays on track, you could see it enabled on live servers with that update.
Large system features sometimes remain on the Public Beta Environment (PBE) for more than one patch cycle. Riot may extend testing if the feature needs balance changes, stability fixes, or moderation tools.
If you want early access, you can join the PBE and test the system before release. Otherwise, you will need to wait until Riot activates it on your regional live server.
