VKmsbc wins Hearthstone Masters Tour Voyage to the Sunken City

This past weekend, the Hearthstone Masters Tour Voyage to the Sunken City took place. Almost four hundred of the world's best Hearthstone players competed for the top prize of 25,000 dollars. The Benelux was also represented: Psionics, Sezoklo and goodwill from the Netherlands, Floki, SupoZitWar and SaucisseSwan from Belgium and wiRer from Luxembourg all tried to take the top prize.

Tournament

The tournament consisted of eight rounds of Swiss, followed by a top 16 Single Elimination Bracket. The top 8 began on Sunday with a tournament between two crowd favorites: Sweden's Orange against Finland's Habugabu. In a 3-2 victory, it was Orange who took the win, putting him up against China's VKmsbc in the semi-finals. In this duel Orange unfortunately came up just short, so the first place in the final was for the only Chinese player in the top 16.

In the other semifinal it was the Greek Cursed who easily eliminated his Russian opponent FaceOff. This made it a final between VKmsbc and Cursed for the top prize, in which VKmsbc came out slightly better based on lineups. His lineup of Aggro Demon Hunter, Naga Mage, Control Warrior, and Boar Priest also managed to give him victory over Cursed in the last Swiss round. He managed to repeat this in double figures by combining his lineup with his sublime Hearthstone skills and a healthy dose of luck. With a smooth 3-0 victory, he leveled Cursed and took home the first prize.

Benelux

For the Benelux this was not really a successful Masters Tour. Four of the seven players from our region did not finish the tournament: goodwill quit after a score of 0-5, wiRer after 1-3 and Psionics and SaucisseSwan after a score of 2-5. SupoZitWar finished the tournament with a score of 3-5 and Sezoklo played a draw with a score of 4-4. The only player from the Benelux with a positive final score was Floki, who can look back on the weekend with satisfaction with a score of 5-3.
