PUBG looks to Fortnite

In the meantime, PUBG is managed by its own developer studio, PUBG Corporation, and has an active player and eSports scene worldwide. After numerous releases on various platforms, the developer has now decided to take the next big step. In the course of the Game Awards 2021, it was revealed that the game will be available as a Free-2-Play title and accordingly free of charge from January 12, 2022.

This puts PUBG on par with its biggest competitor Fortnite. The game, developed by Epic Games, has been offered as a free download in its multiplayer variant from the beginning, while PUBG cost between 10 and 30 euros, depending on the platform.

All known versions are affected by the change: PC in the form of Steam, PlayStation, Xbox and Stadia. The developer has already published a guide on its own homepage that reveals how previous players can unlock special game content.
