oBo Added to Evil Geniuses CS:GO Roster

Evil Geniuses has announced the signing of Owen “oBo” Schlatter, with the American filling the vacant position in the organization’s CS:GO roster. The 17-year-old has moved to the dark side after being benched by Complexity Gaming at the start of the year.

oBo was the final player from the recently disbanded Complexity lineup to be without a team, with the teenager having taken the step of asking to be benched due to homesickness following his move to Europe. With a spot on the Evil Geniuses roster having become available following the unexpected departure of Ethan “Ethan” Arnold at the end of February, who now plays for 100 Thieves in VALORANT.

Why Evil Geniuses Had a Roster Spot Available

In their first showing without Ethan, Evil Geniuses secured a top-12 placing at the IEM Katowice, thanks in part to handing eventual winners Gambit Esports their only defeat of the tournament. However, EG did suffer defeats against both Astralis and G2 Esports during the group stage of the event.

Evil Geniuses certainly enjoyed a productive 2020, winning both the ESL One Cologne North America and BLAST Spring Finals. However, the team has been unable to replicate such performances at the beginning of 2021, having failed to make it out of the group stage at the DreamHack Open January 2021: Europe.

When Will We See oBo in Evil Geniuses Colors?

oBo will have a small amount of time to get to grips with his new surroundings and teammates, before making his debut for Evil Geniuses in Group D of the ESL Pro League on March 25. EG certainly have their work cut out, having been drawn alongside Astralis, Team Liquid and Virtus Pro for the event.
Evil Geniuses announced the arrival of oBo on Twitter, posting: “NA's chosen son is joining our ranks and ready to tap heads internationally. Welcome to the Dark Side, @oBoCSGO. We're ready to #LIVEEVIL with you.”
