LoL: Equal Esports Cup Gamescom 2026

You can look ahead to the return of the Equal Esports Cup in 2026, as the tournament once again centers on competitive League of Legends. Organizers continue to position the event as a dedicated space for women and non-binary players who want to compete on a visible stage.

You will see participants, including cisgender and transgender women as well as non-binary competitors, contend for a €10,000 prize pool. The event maintains its focus on structured competition while reinforcing inclusive participation within the esports scene.

On August 15, you see the Upper Final and Lower Semifinals played simultaneously in best-of-five series. The Lower Bracket Final takes place on August 16 (BO5).

What’s new in 2026?

You see two major format adjustments this year.

First, teams finishing third and fourth in groups no longer exit immediately. Instead, they enter a Lucky Losers Group on July 15. In this stage, teams play a best-of-one round robin, competing for the final two lower-bracket playoff spots.

Second, the tournament reduces its size from 12 teams to 8. Organizational withdrawals and financial pressures across the competitive ecosystem led to this change. The streamlined format creates a tighter schedule and more direct competition.

The event continues to provide competitive opportunities for women and non-binary players in League of Legends. In 2025, G2 Hel claimed the title with a 2–1 victory over Solary Academy, after finishing runner-up the year before.
