Hollow Knight Silksong Update
Team Cherry has rolled out Patch 2 for Hollow Knight: Silksong, continuing its effort to refine the game after launch. The update focuses on resolving lingering technical issues while making subtle adjustments to gameplay elements. Players who previously experienced problems with dialogue errors or boss behavior should find these issues corrected in the latest version.
Alongside these fixes, the patch also alters certain mechanics, such as changes to Cogflies, which no longer regain full health when scenes shift. While many improvements have been implemented, the update does not yet resolve the ongoing concerns with the Simplified Chinese translation, which the developers have stated will be addressed in a later update.
Hollow Knight: Silksong Update 2 Patch Notes (September 23, 2025)
The second post-launch patch delivers a mix of new options, gameplay adjustments, and bug fixes aimed at improving stability and polish across different systems. Players on PC now have access to a Dithering effect under Advanced video settings. This feature helps reduce visible color banding but may slightly blur certain foreground details. The setting defaults to Off and can be toggled as needed.
Achievements also see a small but important clarification. The description for Herald’s Wish now clearly states that completion requires both fulfilling the wish and finishing the game.
Several enemy encounters have been addressed to prevent unintended behavior:
- Savage Beastfly no longer stays trapped beneath lava in Far Fields.
- Shrine Guardian Seth and the Second Sentinel have been fixed to avoid rare out-of-bounds issues during battles.
- Lugoli is now prevented from flying off-screen indefinitely.
- Silk Snippers in the Chapel of the Reaper are less likely to become stuck outside the arena.
A range of combat and progression issues were also resolved:
- Boss death sequences now sync correctly when both the player and boss die simultaneously.
- Shaman Binding transitions no longer cause softlocks.
- Cocoon placements were adjusted to avoid inaccessible spawns.
- Specific NPCs now correctly deliver cursed hint dialogue.
- Pondcatcher Reed can properly fly away after singing.
Additional adjustments include:
| Issue | Fix |
|---|---|
| Verdania memory orb effects | Prevented overlapping bursts |
| Break counter | Corrected for multi-hit tools like Conchcutter |
| Volt Filament | Damage multiplier applied correctly |
| Cogflies/Wisps | Corrected targeting and HP reset behavior |
| Curveclaw | No longer breaks on first deflection |
| Plasmium Phial & Flea Brew | Restores properly at benches |
Smaller tweaks and refinements round out the update, ensuring smoother performance and more reliable gameplay across encounters.
