Baldurs Gate 3 Update Hotfix 34 September 2025

Baldurs Gate 3 Update Hotfix 34

Larian Studios has continued to refine Baldur’s Gate 3 with a new update released in September 2025. Although the latest patch focuses on resolving technical issues and improving stability, it also introduces an important upgrade for players using the Steam Deck. The game now runs natively on the handheld device, offering smoother performance, faster load times, and more consistent framerates.

This update, known as Hotfix 34, also addresses recurring crashes on Xbox and enhances how in-game models are streamed, which helps reduce frame drops in demanding areas like the Lower City. While the studio has already wrapped up its final major content expansion earlier in the year, smaller hotfixes like this show continued support for the title as Larian shifts attention toward its next projects.

Baldur's Gate 3 Hotfix 34 Patch Notes For September 23, 2025

Corrections and Adjustments

Crashes and Performance

The update resolves several stability problems that could interrupt gameplay. Combat scenarios involving the Slow condition no longer trigger unexpected crashes. Similarly, using the Find Familiar spell on companions such as Scratch or Boo during battle no longer causes the game to close.

Xbox-Specific Fixes

A number of issues unique to the Xbox platform have been corrected:

  • Crashes tied to suspending and resuming the game during cinematics have been fixed.
  • Loading a save while in Honour Mode no longer results in a crash.
  • Exiting to the Main Menu from an Honour Mode session no longer causes the game to freeze.
  • Viewing an Xbox Live profile from the Larian Friends list now displays the gamercard correctly.
  • Cross-play now provides proper feedback if cross-network settings prevent players from joining a lobby.
  • Creating a new Honour Mode game after loading a previous save no longer stalls progress at 33% or 83% on the loading screen.

Gameplay Adjustments

Several gameplay mechanics have been refined to ensure consistency:

  • Summoned creatures such as the Hound of Ill Omen and Accursed Spectre now retain their proper health values, unaffected by difficulty settings meant for enemies.
  • The Apostle of Myrkul no longer restores health upon reloading a save in the middle of combat when playing on higher difficulties like Tactician or Honour Mode.

Audio Corrections

Sound design has received extensive attention in this hotfix. The following issues have been resolved:

  • Continuous looping of djinn summon sounds has been eliminated.
  • Explosions above the ground floor of Felogyr's Fireworks now sound appropriately distant.
  • A rat in the Lower City can now be heard squeaking properly.
  • Missing or extended sound effects for several spells have been corrected, including Wind WalkBooming Blade, and subclass-specific actions for the Way of the Drunken Master.
  • Audio tied to Starry Form no longer lingers if the spell is cast quickly after selection.
  • Cinematic sound effects such as Astarion striking Woe, Minthara’s dialogue in Moonrise Towers, and Vlaakith’s camp appearance now play as intended.
  • The Moonlantern no longer produces rattling noises after being unequipped.
  • Casting Speak with Dead on the mind flayer in the Shattered Sanctum now plays the proper audio.
  • Halsin now audibly shouts when entering barbarian Rage.
  • Photo Mode sound resources now generate correctly.

Cinematic Adjustments

Visual presentation in cutscenes has been polished:

  • An imp aboard the nautiloid no longer looks in the wrong direction during a scene.
  • A camera shot during Raphael’s dialogue at Last Light has been adjusted to avoid an extreme close-up.
  • A misplaced blood effect during a gnoll encounter on the Risen Road has been removed for shorter characters following the Dark Urge path.
  • Karlach’s dialogue about Gale being a hero now plays without interruption.
  • Characters no longer appear as floating torsos or hair when speaking to Squire, Ketheric’s dog.
