Fortnite raises $144 million for Ukrainian aid funds

When Epic Games launched the Resistance update for Fortnite, the developer already announced that it would donate all proceeds from the game to Ukrainian aid organizations between March 20 and April 3. Epic Games raised a total of $144 million (€130 million) during its campaign for Ukraine. Microsoft also decided to donate all Fortnite proceeds made through the Xbox during that period. The money will go to five charities.

Epic expands list of charities

Epic expanded its list of aid organizations throughout the donation period and settled on a number of charities, which provide emergency assistance in Ukraine. This includes Direct Relief, UNICEF, the UN World Food Programme, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and World Central Kitchen.

Epic has not only raised $144 million, but is also making sure it gets to the targets as quickly as possible. Due to payment issues, this would otherwise take quite a long time. The company is going to make periodic donations.

Within 24 hours of the announcement of this initiative, players around the world helped raise $36 million for charity, which rose to $70 million after five days and more than $100 million in the second week. You can read the full documentation of Epic's plans and approach to these donations on the official Fortnite website.
