Fortnite leak reveals major changes to Arena mode

Epic Games is evidently very pleased with the new Zero Build mode in Fortnite. In fact, a recent leak reveals that the competitive Arena mode in Fortnite will soon get a Zero Build mode as well.

Building has been what has made Fortnite so popular since the beginning of the game. The basis of this particular Battle Royale was based on the fact that you could build forts during the heat of battle and use them as a means of defense against your opponents.

However, since the beginning of Chapter 3, Season 2, Epic Games has been playing with the idea of Fortnite, but without the fortress. However, the introduction of Zero Build and the removal of the mechanic that players have been playing with for so long created a division within the community and became a controversial decision in the long run.

Zero Build very popular

Still, there were many players who loved the concept of Fortnite without building, and wanted Epic Games to add this idea to the game permanently.

Epic Games might tinker with the idea of having Zero Build in competitive as a selectable option, as a Zero Build mode for Arena Mode was added in all team sizes (Solos, Duos, Trios, Squads).

Epic Games saw the positive feedback and implemented a compris for players on both sides of the debate. Epic Games added an option to choose Classic Building or Zero Build as a game mode.

Since Zero Build is very popular within Fortnite and many old players are returning to the Battle Royale because of it, some leakers suggest that this mode might spread to the competitive scene.

Esports players react

As the leak spread through social media, many Fortnite streamers and esports players reacted to the news that Arena mode in Fortnite may also be losing the ability to build.

Fortnite streamer Tfue tweeted enthusiastically at the news, while SypherPK gave an interesting response when he quoted iFireMonkey's tweet saying, „So it begins…“.

With Zero Build seemingly possibly coming to Arena, this could mark the beginning of a new kind of competitive scene. If one of Fortnite's core mechanics is left out, this could change a lot.

But keep in mind that this is still a leak for now, so there is a chance are Epic Games chooses to do nothing at all with the game mode.
