About one to two hours into Crimson Desert, you reach the early main quest called Abyss Without Balance. This mission introduces key mechanics, including your first Sky Bridge, the Abyss Artifact, and the wings that allow you to fly, making it an important step in your progression.
During the quest, you may hit a point where progress seems blocked, even after reloading your save. The issue appears to be a bug tied to a required tutorial prompt, but it has a specific trigger and a clear solution once you understand how the sequence works.
Fixing the Progression Issue in Abyss Without Balance in Crimson Desert
If the puzzle appears stuck and the Force Palm tutorial never triggers, you likely skipped a required activation step earlier in the area. The issue is not a broken quest state but a missed objective that prevents the sequence from advancing.
When you first cross the Sky Bridge and enter the Abyss Nexus zone, check the objective text at the bottom of the screen. It instructs you to step onto a platform before interacting with the blue cubes and Abyss Cells below.
This platform sits at the upper level of the area, before you descend into the section filled with floating cubes. Stand on it and wait until it glows blue. That visual change confirms the game has registered the objective.
Once activated, the quest updates with a new instruction: remove the wall blocking the floor. Only after this update can you correctly manipulate the blue cube using Axiom Force.
Move the cube to the empty stone slot located on the right side of the Abyss Nexus chamber. Placing it correctly unlocks access to the lower pit area.
Inside the pit, approach the blank wall panel to trigger the missing tutorial scene. You should now see the demonstration of Force Palm being used to attach an Abyss Cell to a wall. Observe the prompt to properly unlock the skill.
After viewing the tutorial:
- Use Axiom Force to reposition the floating Abyss Cell
- Align it against the correct wall surface
- Hold RB/R1 near the cell to charge Force Palm
- Release the button to secure the cell in place
When attached correctly, the central platform activates and begins rotating. This confirms the puzzle state has advanced.
Climb back out of the pit and head toward the large orange wheel structure overlooking the center. Ascend to the middle section of the mechanism.
While holding onto the wheel, use Force Palm again. The blast will push you away from the wheel and complete the interaction tied to the puzzle’s final step.
Return to the wheel to collect the Abyss Artifact, which finalizes the objective and allows the quest to continue normally.
If the tutorial still fails to appear, use this checklist:
| Checkpoint | Required Action |
|---|---|
| Initial platform | Step on it and wait for blue glow |
| Objective update | Confirm wall removal task appears |
| Blue cube placement | Move cube to right-side stone slot |
| Tutorial trigger | Enter lower pit and interact with blank wall |
| Cell attachment | Use Force Palm to secure the Abyss Cell |
Most players encounter this issue because they move directly to the puzzle elements without activating the platform first. Following the sequence above restores proper quest progression and allows you to complete Abyss Without Balance without restarting the mission.
