Overwatch: Mercy Gets Second Mythic Skin

As Overwatch’s new season approaches its February 10 launch, you get an early look at how Blizzard plans to handle Mythic cosmetics. Season 1 centers on a new Mythic hero skin for Mercy, alongside a Mythic weapon skin for Juno that sets the tone at launch.

You can also expect a mid-season update that introduces Mei’s first Mythic hero skin. While the lineup highlights popular heroes, you may notice ongoing frustration from parts of the community over how these high-tier cosmetics get distributed.

Overwatch Season 1 mythic skins

You see a clear expansion of mythic content in Season 1, with two hero mythics and a new mythic weapon setting the pace for 2026. Mercy receives the Celestial Guardian mythic, while Mei joins mid-season with her first mythic hero skin.

You can also expect additional mythic hero skins later in the year for Illari, Mauga, and Soldier: 76, plus future mythic weapons for Genji, Hanzo, and Sojourn.

Overwatch gets another Mercy mythic skin

You see Blizzard assign Mercy another Mythic hero skin, which immediately splits opinion across the community. Some players welcome the addition, especially if you main Support and prefer Mercy’s playstyle.

Others push back and question the priority. You hear frequent complaints that several heroes still lack any Mythic treatment, while Mercy now holds more than one.

Commonly cited heroes without a Mythic include:

  • Lucio
  • Brigitte
  • Venture

You also notice discussion around Mercy’s related cosmetics. The Vengeance Mercy hero skin pairs with the Merciful Magitech Mythic weapon, adding to the sense that she receives concentrated attention this season.

You can enjoy the design quality while still recognizing why parts of the player base view the decision as uneven.

More Overwatch Season 1 skins

Season 1 expands cosmetic options beyond mythics, giving you several distinct ways to customize heroes. Collaborations, themed bundles, refreshed rewards, and Battle Pass unlocks all play a role.

Hello Kitty collaboration skins arrive as a limited collection that pairs Sanrio characters with Overwatch heroes. Each skin keeps the hero readable in combat while clearly reflecting its crossover theme.

Season 1 also ties cosmetics to The Reign of Talon. You see faction-inspired designs alongside lighter bundles built around specific moods. These include sets centered on rainy-day aesthetics and Valentine’s Day themes, which focus on color palettes and small details rather than heavy visual effects.

A loot box refresh broadens what you can earn through regular play. You gain access to standard shop skins from the previous six seasons, giving you another route to older cosmetics. This pool excludes collaborations and mythic items, but it does include popular lines such as DokiWatch.

The Season 1 Battle Pass adds new skins tied directly to progression. You unlock cosmetics for Tracer, Genji, Sojourn, Vendetta, Emre, Moira, and Mauga, spread across free and premium tiers.

Season 1 launches on February 10, placing all of these skins into rotation at the same time.
