Valorant: Knockout New Game Mode

VALORANT is expanding its lineup of modes with Knockout, a new team-focused experience that pushes you to rely on coordination and smart decision-making. You compete in a faster, more chaotic setting that builds on the core ideas of Team Deathmatch while adding stronger emphasis on teamwork and tactical trades.

Knockout challenges you to communicate clearly, move with purpose, and capitalize on every elimination. If you enjoy constant action paired with structured team play, this mode gives you a direct way to test how well you and your squad perform under pressure.

Understanding the Knockout Mode

Knockout places you in a rapid, team-driven format where each elimination directly affects your squad’s survival. Matches typically run 8 to 15 minutes, keeping pressure high and downtime low. When you secure a kill, you bring a fallen teammate back into the fight.

A visible center line splits the map, forcing both sides to contest space instead of spreading out. You must push together, trade eliminations efficiently, and avoid isolated duels.

  • Eliminations revive allies
  • Strong emphasis on coordinated pushes
  • Constant momentum swings

Because control shifts quickly, you need steady communication and disciplined positioning to maintain an advantage and dictate the pace.

Core Gameplay

You begin each round inside your team’s spawn room while barriers block entry to the map. Use this short prep phase to choose your loadout and quickly align on a plan, because once the barriers fall, hesitation costs space and control.

When the round starts, both teams move toward the central dividing wall. Avoid crossing alone. Push with teammates, use smokes and flashes to take ground safely, and trade eliminations to maintain numbers.

A defining mechanic shapes every fight:

  • Eliminate an opponent to revive a fallen ally
  • Maintain pressure to sustain your team’s presence
  • Deny enemy revives by controlling engagements

This loop rewards coordinated aggression rather than isolated duels.

Map control also plays a direct role in momentum. You can capture orbs placed around the map to push the dividing wall deeper into enemy territory. As your side expands, the opposing team loses safe space and angles, which limits their positioning options and forces tighter defenses.

You win a round by eliminating the entire enemy team. If neither side closes it out in time, overtime mechanics force a decisive finish. The match ends when a team secures four round victories.

Release Date and Launch Timing

You can access Knockout starting March 18, 2026. The mode launches alongside a new agent, updated patch notes, and changes to the map rotation as part of the same seasonal update.
