Improvements

This update adjusts Escalation systems, Prototype gear scaling, and matchmaking clarity. You also see expanded drop opportunities tied to daily rotations.

Escalation Changes

Prototype item drop rates now scale higher across all Escalation tiers except Tier 1. If you play higher tiers, you see improved chances for Prototype rewards.

Prototype items now appear in the daily Targeted Loot rotation within Escalation. Enemies connected to that day’s targeted loot pool can drop Prototype versions of those items.

This addition applies only to the daily rotating pool. It does not extend to selectable Targeted Loot sources such as Countdown or Summit.

Drop probability increases as you move into higher Escalation tiers. Higher risk results in stronger reward potential.

Matchmaking messaging now clarifies key rules:

  • Matchmaking depends on your selected Escalation Tier, not the mission.
  • Once you confirm a Tier, you cannot access matchmaking for that run.
  • Certain Matchmaking and Call for Backup options become unavailable during active Escalation runs to prevent unintended session transfers or token loss.

These changes reduce confusion and prevent accidental disruptions during tiered runs.

Prototype Gear Updates

Prototype gear with Skill Tier cores now grants 1.5 Skill Tier per item instead of the standard value.

Each Prototype item contributes more than a normal Skill Tier. When you equip multiple Prototype pieces, their values stack in larger increments.

Skill Tier scaling example:

Prototype Items Equipped Total Skill Tier Granted
1 Item +1 Skill Tier
2 Items +3 Skill Tier
3 Items +4 Skill Tier
4 Items +6 Skill Tier

This structure lets you reach higher Skill Tier thresholds while equipping fewer Skill Tier core items. You gain more flexibility in how you structure hybrid builds.

The change applies retroactively. Any Prototype items already in your inventory automatically reflect the new Skill Tier values.

Fixes

Several issues affecting Prototype upgrades, talents, projects, and UI behavior have been resolved.

Inventory and Upgrade Fixes

  • Prototype items no longer disappear when upgraded at maximum inventory capacity.
  • Items with equipped mods no longer display altered or reduced Talents and Attributes after upgrading to Prototype quality.
  • You can now compare different item types properly within your inventory.

Gameplay and Progression Fixes

  • Daily and Weekly projects that require Named enemy eliminations or faction bounties now progress correctly, even if a Level 3 Retaliation for that faction is active.
  • The “Abridge” Talent now functions correctly with Prototype weapons.
  • Optimized attributes no longer revert to original values during Raids and Incursions.
  • The “Summit Combat Mastery Merit” reward can now be redeemed properly. You must replay Summit to receive the reward if you were previously affected.
  • The Ruin Mask from the Pentco Fairview Power Plant mission now displays the correct Exotic rarity.
  • The “Quickstep” Pistol now gains a Terminal attribute when upgraded to Prototype quality.
  • The Recombinant Global Modifier description now lists the correct base stack value of 8.
  • The Agitator Exotic weapon now includes its intended Skin Slot.

These fixes stabilize gear behavior, prevent item loss, and correct inaccurate descriptions.

Compensation Package

Starting April 21, you receive a Compensation Cache delivered to your in-game mailbox. This grant addresses prior unexpected maintenance and store disruptions.

The cache contains:

  • 1 Optimization Cache

You can claim the package directly from your mailbox once it becomes available.
