The best Rocket League teams of all time

We are now into the eleventh season of the Rocket League Championship Series. Time to take a look at the stats and see which lineups are among the best Rocket League teams.

Gale Force Esports / Dignitas

In season four, Jos ‚ViolentPanda‘ van Meurs, Alexandre ‚Kaydop‘ Courant and Pierre ‚Turbopolsa‘ Silfver won the Rocket League World Championship. The European team played under the banner of Galeforce Esports and had a hugely dominant season that ended with the slaughter of Method in the World Championship final (4-0).

The team was picked up by Dignitas and in season five continued where it left off; dominating. Despite a loss earlier in the tournament against Team NRG, it once again managed to take the World Cup, this time by taking revenge on NRG and sidelining them in the final after two series (4-1 and 4-3).

In season six, Dignitas, still with the same formation, once again grabbed medals. It reached the final in which Cloud9 was much too strong. The team falls apart with Kaydop's departure to Vitality, with whom he once again became world champion. When Dignitas fails to reach the world championship in season 7, Turbopolsa also leaves, going to NRG in America.

Violentpanda stays with the team for a long time, Dreamhack is still won and Dignitas also reaches the semi-finals of the world championship in season eight, but its glory days are over.

Despite the team having strong names under contract with Joris ‚Joreuz‘ Robben, Jack ‚ApparentlyJack‘ Benton and Kyle ‚Scrub Killa‘ Robertson, there is still little success. But with two World Championships won, followed by a second place finish, Gale Force Esports and then Dignitas is one of the most successful teams ever.

Cloud9

It was Cloud9 that became world champions in season six, knocking Dignitas off the throne, but the lineup was hugely successful before that. Before Kyle ‚Torment‘ Storer, Mariano ‚SquishyMuffinz‘ Arruda and Jesus ‚Gimmick‘ Parra were picked up by C9 it was playing under the name The Muffin Men. Under that banner it won small tournaments, but was especially successful at Dreamhack Atlanta when it defeated Gale Force Esports in the finals.

After it continued under the C9 banner, it became champion of North America in 2017 and took third place at the world championship in season five. Its best performance came a season later with the world championship win. After some smaller achievements, such as the Dreamhack Dallas win and a third place at the world championship in season seven, the team was disbanded by Cloud9. Since coming together to form The Muffin Men, Torment, SquishyMuffinz and Gimmick were the longest staying together team in Rocket League, with the departure of SquishyMuyffinz that came to an end.

NRG Esports

Cloud9's departure from Rocket League meant an opportunity for NRG Esports who picked up SquishyMuffinz. Before that happened, NRG was already winning, with Garrett ‚GarrettG‘ Gordon, Justin ‚jstn‘ Morales and Jayson ‚Fireburner‘ Nunez and before that also Jacob ‚Jacob‘ McDowell, winning the FACEIT X Games, twice the US Championship and finishing second at the World Championship in season five.

However, the big success story began with Turbopolsa's arrival in July 2019, as not only did it become U.S. champion for the third time in a row, it also became world champion in season eight, making it still the current world champion. After 2020 does not go well, Turbopolsa leaves NRG and bringing in SquishyMuffinz proves to be a golden move.

In 2021, NRG dominates; winning two of the three US Majors, finishing in second place at the third. The overall U.S. championship is also prey for the team. When an international tournament is played in December 2021 for the first time in two years, it too seems to be prey for NRG. But it is not NRG that becomes champion, but a European team that has appeared out of nowhere. Team BDS is too strong.

Team BDS

While corona held the world in its grasp, Marc ‚MaRcBy8‘ Domingo, Evan ‚M0nkey M00n‘ Rogez and Alex ‚Extra‘ Paoli managed to conquer the Rocket League world with phenomenal play. After being promoted to the European RLCS, prize after prize was for the French-Spanish team.

For many people, however, there was doubt, because Team BDS was a team that could win online, but on a lan you have to deal with completely different circumstances. The real test followed last December, during the Fall Split Major. Despite the fact that Team BDS was hugely dominant in Europe, it now had to compete against American teams such as The General NRG and FaZe Clan.

BDS passed that test with flying colors. After a run in the lower bracket, The General NRG was defeated 4-1 and 4-3 in the final. At the moment, BDS is in somewhat lesser form, but no doubt we haven't heard the last of this European titan.

When the last World Championship was held in 2019, the BDS Rocket League team did not exist. This makes it the lineup in this list that did not become world champions, but BDS will do everything it can to change that this year.
