The best Call of Duty teams of all time

Call of Duty esports has a rich history. Players like Nadeshot, Scump, Crimsix, and Clayster have given fans years to enjoy their talent. But, what are the best Call of Duty teams of all time? We list these for you today.

In 2003, the first Call of Duty game was released. Within the first-person shooter, it initially revolved around the single player. However, it was the multiplayer that gave the game its popularity. Call of Duty was increasingly played competitively, which led to the creation of Major League Gaming.

When Major League Gaming acquired the company GameBattles, it became possible for anyone to form teams and play small tournaments. The arrival of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare in 2007 took Call of Duty esports to the next level, leading to the first major tournament: The Major League Championship.

Now, more than a decade later, the Call of Duty League is one of the largest esports leagues in the world. The old champions are slowly but surely being supplanted by the new talents. Before that happens, let's take a look at the best Call of Duty teams of all time.

OpTic Gaming in Advanced Warfare

In the year that changed Call of Duty forever, OpTic Gaming was without a doubt the best team. Advanced Warfare brought the exoskeleton to the franchise. Among other things, this made it possible for players to jump higher. OpTic Gaming was excellent at handling this new feature.

The team consisted of Scump, Crimsix, Formal and Nadeshot. Nadeshot was later replaced by Karma. Individually they were the best players of the time, but together they became a team that was almost unbeatable. The team even almost won a LAN tournament without losing a single map. Their dominance that year can be seen in the video below.

The CompLexity Era

Black Ops 2 was an excellent year for Call of Duty esports. League Play, similar to Ranked Play, gained popularity and an increasing number of players saw the best players compete in various tournaments. They saw CompLexity dominate.

In the year of Black Ops 2, Aches, TeePee, Crimsix and Clayster were part of the team. The team played aggressively and was by no means lacking in confidence. Because of their excellent chemistry, they won no less than seven LAN tournaments and were beaten only a few times that year by the likes of OpTic gaming and UNiTE Gaming.

CompLexity was also rock solid in Ghosts. The team won the Call of Duty Championships with Karma replacing Clayster. They remained undefeated throughout the tournament, winning 24 out of 28 maps.

OpTic Gaming in Modern Warfare 3

Somehow it is strange to mention a team from the year of Modern Warfare 3. After all, this game lacked proper LAN functionality. As a result, Major League Gaming did not include the game in the professional circuit. However, to promote the game, the developer did hold the first tournament where a total of one million dollars in prize money could be won: Call of Duty XP.

This tournament was won by the team from OpTic Gaming which consisted of Merk, Bigtymer, Nadeshot and Vengeance. This team may not have been the best team of all time, but many fans have fond memories of this team. It also formed the basis for the OpTic team that did not do badly later in Black Ops 2. Consisting of Merk, Bigtymer, Nadeshot and Scump.

The finale of Fariko Impact

In addition to CompLexity and OpTic Gaming, Fariko Impact also did exceptionally well within Black Ops 2. They will forever be remembered for the 2013 Call of Duty Championships final which they won over EnVyUS. Karma, Killa, Mirx, and Parasite thus snagged the grand prize of $400,000.

In addition to the Call of Duty Championships, the team won several LAN tournaments. After CompLexity, they are the best team of the year for Black Ops 2.

Besides OpTic, CompLexity and Fariko Impact, there have obviously been more good teams over the years. Still, most fans agree that these teams are among the absolute best. Players like Scump, Crimsix and Clayster are considered the best Call of Duty players ever.

Anno 2022, OpTic Texas, Atlanta FaZe and London Royal Ravens are among the better teams. We will continue to follow the Call of Duty League, so we may be able to add one of these to this list next year.
