Wuyang is the latest support hero joining the roster of Overwatch 2. His introduction expands the game’s lore, offering players a closer look at his origins and personality. The story is presented through the animated comic Against the Tide, narrated by his voice actor, Howard Wang.

Set within the Water College of Wuxing University, Wuyang’s background explores his journey to find his place in a challenging environment. His narrative blends personal growth with the game’s broader universe, giving players both a new character to master and a deeper connection to the world of Overwatch 2.

Wuyang’s Story in Overwatch 2

Wuyang’s family has deep ties to Wuxing University, an institution split into five elemental colleges: Fire, Metal, Water, Earth, and Wood. His parents, renowned fighters from the Fire College during the Omnic Crisis, set a high standard for achievement.

His sister, Anran, excelled in the same college, earning a reputation as one of its most skilled students. Wuyang aimed to join them but was only accepted into the Water College.

This outcome left him with a sense of personal disappointment. However, he continued to pursue his goal by self-studying Fire College material while mastering water-based techniques. Over time, he developed a hybrid style that blends the precision of water control with the offensive principles of fire combat.

Overwatch 2: Wuyang’s Journey

During a Null Sector assault on his university, Wuyang and his friend Anran clashed and went their separate ways. The situation changed when Wuyang learned Anran was in danger. He acted quickly, using his water-based abilities to reach her and provide aid.

The two then coordinated their efforts, combining defense and offense to push back their attackers.

Weeks later, Anran and both families visited Wuyang’s dorm. This reunion strengthened their bonds, and Wuyang began to see the Water College as the place he truly belonged.
