December DreamHack Open with Movistar Riders and Saw

One more month DreamHack Open is back and this time there will be two teams from the peninsula: Movistar Riders as ESL Masters champion and Saw as Iberian qualifier winner.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive does not stop at DreamHack and after the Masters Winter it is the turn of the Open in December. This tournament, like the one in November, will have a strong presence of Russian teams and, in general, from the CIS region, but also others from the Iberian Peninsula.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive does not stop at DreamHack and after the Masters Winter it is the turn of the Open in December. This tournament, like the one in November, will have a strong presence of Russian teams and, in general, from the CIS region, but also others from the Iberian Peninsula.

There will be, in fact, Spanish representation. This is Movistar Riders, which qualified for this event at the beginning of last month by winning the 8th season of the ESL Masters Spain by beating the Portuguese Saw in the final. These are, precisely, the other Iberian representatives: they came through the peninsular qualifier after overtaking Wygers.

Continuing with those coming from the qualifiers we find XSET. This is a female team that achieved its place from the DreamHack Showdown Summer, although they did it as Team Originem and were recently signed by this American club. The fourth in discord is ESPADA, a Russian team coming from the European qualifiers.

These four teams are joined by the four guests, all from CIS. The champion of the last Open is Gambit Esports, but he will also be accompanied by Forze, Nemiga Gaming and Virtus.pro.

Movistar Riders has been placed in group A with Nemiga, Gambit and Saw. In the first round their rival will be Gambit and the format is the usual one: GSL, which means that the teams that win two matches will advance to the quarterfinals and those that lose two will be already eliminated. This first phase will be played between the 10th and 11th of December.

The playoffs will be very short as there will only be semi-finals and finals. The first of each group will face the second of the other in playoffs to the best of three maps that will take place on December 12. On Sunday the tournament will close with the grand final starting at 6:00 p.m., already to the best of five maps.

As it happened with the November tournament, it is a competition in which the great international teams will not be present, but it is very attractive both for the level of those who are there and for the important economic prize: 100,000 dollars to be distributed, of which 50,000 will go to the champion.
