MIBR first CS:GO team to qualify for PGL Antwerp Major

Brazilian CS:GO team MIBR defeated Imperial 2-1 in the PGL Antwerp Major: Americas Regional Major Ranking (RMR) to qualify as the first Counter-Strike team in the world. A total of 24 teams will compete in the major.

MIBR did not get off to a good start on the first map, but luckily they returned in much better shape for the second map: Vertigo. Marcelo Cespedes dominated from the start and closed the map 16-8. MIBR took this momentum to the map Nuke, winning the first six rounds here. Imperial still came close to a draw in the middle of the second half, but MIBR found itself in a much more comfortable position, eventually winning Nuke 16-10.

There were two players on in MIBR's team who consistently made a big impact throughout the series. Chelo and Jhonatan „JOTA“ Willian both finished with 61 frags each and similar ADR and overall ratings. The duo was instrumental in MIBR placing for the CS:GO Major after the team missed out on the PGL Stockholm Major last year.

Imperial not eliminated yet

MIBR and Imperial met in the 2-0 pool of the Swiss-system stage and played a hard-fought series. Imperial, which features legendary names such as Gabriel „FalleN“ Toledo and Lincoln „fnx“ Lau, showed great Counter-Strike gameplay on the map Inferno and managed to eventually win the match with a 16-12 victory over their CT side. So in the end, they lost the two maps after that.

Imperial is not eliminated yet, and will re-enter the CS:GO server tomorrow and try to qualify for the PGL Antwerp Major. They will have two more chances to do so in the RMR of America.
