LCP 2026 Format Updates And Key Changes

The League of Legends Championship Pacific (LCP) will enter its 2026 season with a refreshed competitive format and updated structure. Building on the foundation of its debut year, the league aims to refine its approach to regional play and enhance the experience for both players and fans.

Organizers have confirmed that the upcoming season will retain its three-split format while introducing new systems designed to reward consistency and strategic depth. These adjustments mark the next step in the league’s development as it continues to establish itself as a central stage for top-tier competition in the Asia-Pacific region.

Split 1 and 2

Split 1 and Split 2 will maintain the familiar seasonal structure, but several updates refine how competition unfolds. The regular season continues with a single round-robin schedule, where teams face each other in best-of-three (Bo3) series. The Playoffs stage introduces a full best-of-five (Bo5) format for every match, ensuring consistency and greater competitive depth.

A notable adjustment replaces the former 1v1 tiebreaker with a 2v2 showdown to decide side selection. This change emphasizes teamwork and adds a fresh layer of strategy to pre-match decisions.

Stage Format Key Change
Regular Season Bo3, Single Round-Robin Structure remains consistent
Playoffs Bo5, Hybrid Elimination All matches now Bo5
Side Selection 2v2 Battles Replaces 1v1 format

Split 1 will begin earlier in the day, starting at 10 p.m. PT / 8 a.m. CEST, allowing more global viewers to tune in live. After the split concludes, organizers plan to review community feedback before finalizing adjustments for future events.

Swiss Stage Split 3

Split 3 introduces a Swiss-style stage designed to create fairer and more competitive matchups. Teams face opponents with similar records, keeping each round balanced and meaningful. The format mixes Best-of-Three (Bo3) and Best-of-Five (Bo5) series depending on the round’s importance.

Match Type Format Description
Standard Rounds Bo3 Used for most matchups to maintain pace and variety
Qualification & Elimination Bo5 Determines advancement or exit from the tournament

A new Championship Points system rewards consistent results across the season. These points help decide which team secures the final Worlds 2026 slot in North America.

Additionally, two guest teams must defend their league positions against top-performing squads from regional APAC competitions. The LCP plans to release more details closer to the start of the new split.
