Epic Games is offering the Kitsune Sidekick as a free cosmetic in Fortnite, but access depends on your account history. While the companion looks new, only certain players qualify to receive it at no cost.

How to Get Kitsune in Fortnite for Free
You can unlock the Kitsune Sidekick without spending V-Bucks if your account already includes the original Kitsune back bling. Epic ties the free reward directly to ownership of that earlier cosmetic.
The back bling came from the Chapter 1 Season X Battle Pass. You earned it by reaching Tier 28 during that season, so only qualifying accounts receive the Sidekick at no cost.
After the Item Shop reset on January 3, 2026, log into Fortnite with an eligible account. The Kitsune Sidekick appears in your locker automatically, with no extra steps required.
