Apex Legends Optic Gaming Leave Competitive

OpTic Gaming, a prominent name in esports, has made the decision to withdraw from competitive Apex Legends. The organization, which joined Apex Legends and became a partnered team for the fourth year of the Apex Legends Global Series (ALGS), spent two years competing in the popular battle royale game.

Despite their involvement and efforts to cement a solid position in the game's competitive arena, the roster consisting of players Knoqd, Dropped, and Skittlecakes couldn't secure a spot in the ALGS Split 1 Playoffs in Los Angeles. The team's performance appeared to be a significant factor in OpTic Gaming's decision to step back from the Apex Legends competitive circuit.

Influential Force in North American Apex Circuits

While it may not overtly seem so, OpTic Gaming has had a significant impact on North American Apex Legends esports. Their swift rise was highlighted by nearly clinching the ALGS Championship in Birmingham, where they nearly bested TSM, despite concluding the event with a superior point tally.

The team's performance at the Split 2 Playoffs and Split 2 Pro League had the community anticipate further triumphs, setting the stage for what many believed would be a sustained period of excellence.

    • ALGS Championship: Ended as the runner-up team
    • 2022 JBL Quantum Cup: Champions
    • Code: Red Freedom Season 1: Claimed first place

OpTic's integration into the ALGS, marked by a memorable entry announcement, positioned them as a formidable entity across a series of competitive engagements. They shone in Swedish playoffs as part of Split 2, hinting at a long-term dominance.

However, subsequent updates to Storm Point and consecutive changes in the meta during the offseason severely impacted their strategies. They experienced a decline throughout the Pro League split, concluding at a surprising 14th place. This period marked the first instance of the team failing to reach a LAN event since the induction of player Dropped.

The team confronted further internal challenges, such as the inability to acquire coach iShiny—a decision rumored to stem from budgetary constraints. iShiny's expertise was later harnessed by Cloud 9, leaving OpTic to navigate the evolving terrain without this strategical asset.

Despite a disheartening phase, OpTic Gaming's imprint on the ALGS and its past accomplishments remain noteworthy components of the competitive Apex Legends narrative.

OpTic Gaming's Unexpected Exit from ALGS Partnership

OpTic Gaming has unexpectedly withdrawn from the competitive Apex Legends scene. Their departure is particularly surprising because they were part of the Apex Legends Global Series (ALGS) partnership for its fourth year. Teams in this partnership generally committed to the entire season and received financial support, among other advantages.

There is currently no information on whether a new organization will take OpTic's place in the partnership for the remainder of the year. The future is also uncertain for the former OpTic roster – Dropped, Skittlecakes, and Knoqd – and whether they will compete together under a different banner.
