WOW Midnight October 2 Public Alpha Launch
World of Warcraft will soon begin alpha testing for its upcoming expansion, Midnight, starting on October 2. The testing will unfold across several phases, giving players an early opportunity to explore its new content, including zones, stories, and gameplay features.
As part of the larger Worldsoul Saga, Midnight marks the second chapter in this ongoing narrative. Set for release in the first half of 2026, the expansion takes players to Quel’thalas, where they will confront the threat of Xal’atath. Updated versions of familiar areas such as Eversong Woods, Silvermoon City, and Zul’Aman will appear alongside entirely new locations like Harandar and the Voidstorm.

Week two expands exploration with Zul’Aman as a questing hub and two additional dungeons. The third week introduces Harandar and a new user interface option that provides encounter warnings, designed to improve clarity in difficult fights.
By the fourth week, testers can experience Voidstorm, several high-level dungeons, and updates to PvP systems. This phase also brings Apex Talents, an endgame progression system intended to deepen character builds.
The final stage consolidates all previous content while adding Level 90 campaign quests, new Delves, and large-scale activities such as Stormarion Citadel and Amani Abyss. Features like Prey, a system tied to progression and rewards, and Profession Sparks will also be available.
Players invited to the alpha will see most of the expansion’s major systems, including campaign chapters, class updates, dungeons, Delves, and world events. While participation is limited, information from testing will become public as feedback is shared.
On October 1, the day before alpha begins, Blizzard developers will host a deep dive stream followed by a live Q&A. The session will highlight expansion zones, storylines, and mechanics, with the possibility of revealing the collector’s edition and release details.
The alpha is expected to conclude in early November, paving the way for the beta. Those interested in joining the next stage can either opt in through the official site or secure guaranteed access by purchasing the Epic Edition of World of Warcraft: Midnight.
