Guangzhou Charge Add Daemin & Neko to Coaching Staff

After announcing some big name additions to their playing roster, the Guangzhou Charge has confirmed the arrivals of both Dae-min “Daemin” Kim and Se-hyeon “Neko” Park, with the duo set to join the teams’ coaching staff. The South Korean duo will both act as assistant coaches, with both having experience within the Overwatch League.

Why the Charge Has Added Daemin & Neko to Its Ranks

Daemin and Neko have both recently retired from playing in order to focus upon their coaching careers, with fans understandably being keen to see what they can bring to the Charge. Daemin already has experience as a coach, having worked for the Shanghai Dragons previously. However, he will be looking for a much more successful period with Guangzhou, having been part of the Shanghai team which went 40 games without a win in their inaugural season.

The 24-year-old then played two full seasons in Korean Contenders, before moving to Element Mystic as a coach, where he helped the team in finishing at least fourth in each and every tournament in which they competed in. His experience and knowledge of the game could well be invaluable for the Charge.

Will Daemin & Neko Turn Guangzhou Into Title Challengers?

As for Neko, the former support player represented the Boston Uprising and Toronto Defiant previously, before returning to Korea with the O2 Blast. It was there where he won a title, before speculation mounted regarding a return to the Overwatch League in a coaching capacity, which has recently been proven true. The 22-year-old started his Overwatch career with the RX Foxes back in 2017, having amassed over $50,000 in earnings since.

Both the Charge playing and coaching rosters now look hugely experienced, with confidence mounting ahead of the new season. It remains to be seen as to just how quickly Daemin and Neko will make an impact, however the mix of Chinese and Korean coaches cannot be a negative thing.

The Guangzhou Charge roster is currently made up by Yiliang “Eileen” Ou, Seungpyo “Rio” Oh, Nam “Cr0ng” Ki-cheol, Youngseo “KariV” Park, Kim “Mandu” Chan-hee, Zou “MYKaylee” Zijie and Choi “ChoiSehwan” Se-hwan.
