You will soon be able to celebrate Pride Month directly in Azeroth. On June 27, World of Warcraft adds the Darkspear Dash, an official in-game micro-holiday that lets you take part in a Pride-themed activity alongside other players.
Pride Month honors the LGBTQIA+ community through events, fundraising, and public celebrations, and game studios have increasingly reflected that support inside their titles. With Patch 12.0.5, Blizzard brings that recognition into World of Warcraft, giving you new ways to show your Pride within the game world.
Darkspear Dash Pride Event Arrives in WoW on June 27
You can take part in World of Warcraft’s first official Pride-themed micro-holiday starting June 27. The Darkspear Dash runs for 48 hours and brings structured in-game support to a celebration that players have organized for more than a decade.
Blizzard based the event on the long-running Running of the Trolls, a player-led Pride gathering known for its beach meetup on the Echo Isles, a cross-zone parade, and a final celebration in Silvermoon. In 2026, that community tradition reaches its 12th year, and Patch 12.0.5 formalizes it with in-game support.
Most of the action centers on June 28, a date tied to the Stonewall Uprising and widely recognized as a key moment in LGBTQIA+ history. By anchoring the event to that weekend, the micro-holiday aligns directly with Pride Month observances.
Datamining points to an Event Coordinator NPC who can open a portal to the official Darkspear Dash route. That setup streamlines travel and helps you join the parade-style run without relying on manual coordination.
Event Items and Collectibles
During the event window, you can use several cosmetic consumables with significantly reduced cooldowns:
- Pocket Rainbow – Adds a rainbow-themed visual effect to a target.
- Rainbow Runners – Enhances your character’s footsteps with colorful flair.
- Pocket Sand – Triggers a dance-focused effect for 10 minutes.
You can use these items year-round, but the shortened cooldown during the Darkspear Dash encourages frequent use while the celebration is active.
Permanent rewards give you lasting recognition for participating. Current findings suggest you can earn:
| Reward | Type | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Darkspear Dash Tabard | Cosmetic Armor | Visual Pride-themed tabard |
| Darkspear Dasher | Title | Character title |
| Troll Scroll of Rainbow Roll | Toy | Lets you “roll like a troll,” with reduced cooldown during the event |
The tabard adds a collectible cosmetic option, while the title permanently marks your participation. The toy appears designed for playful movement effects, reinforcing the parade atmosphere.
The original Running of the Trolls also serves as a fundraiser for The Trevor Project, a nonprofit focused on crisis intervention and suicide prevention for LGBTQIA+ youth. Blizzard has not confirmed whether the in-game Darkspear Dash will include a direct charitable component.
Other Additions in Patch 12.0.5
Patch 12.0.5 expands beyond the Pride event with new activities tied to WoW: Midnight. You can explore fresh open-world content, instance-based challenges, and side activities that support both progression and cosmetics.
Void Assaults introduce a new open-world objective format, while Ritual Sites provide instanced content tied to rewards and gear. These features give you structured goals outside standard questing and raid cycles.
The Voidforge functions as a catch-up system for Midnight Season 1. It fills a similar role to prior expansion mechanics that helped you close gear gaps later in a season.
If you prefer lighter activities, the patch adds new options:
- Abyss Anglers lets you participate in deep-sea fishing content.
- Decor Duels introduces a Prop Hunt-style PvP mini-game.
These features broaden how you spend time in Azeroth, especially if you want alternatives to competitive raiding or Mythic+ progression.
Blizzard has not locked in a public release date for Patch 12.0.5. Recent update timing suggests a late April rollout, with the Darkspear Dash activating later in June as part of the Pride Month schedule.
You can access all of this content within the live PC version of World of Warcraft, published and developed by Blizzard. The game supports online multiplayer and co-op play, and Patch 12.0.5 marks the first major post-launch update for Midnight.
