As the final episode in the series following The Final Shape, Destiny 2's Episode Heresy marks a pivotal moment in the game's storyline, shifting focus to the Hive. Leading up to this episode, the narrative has seen significant battles and victories, including the Echoes of The Witness and the defeat of the Vex in Episode: Echoes, followed by the downfall of the Scorn leader Fikrul in Episode: Revenant. Episode Heresy promises to continue this thrilling journey, inviting players to delve deeper into the lore of Destiny 2.

Schedule for Destiny 2 Episode: Heresy

Destiny 2 fans are anticipating the launch of Episode: Heresy, which kicks off on February 4. This release coincides with the weekly reset, leading to a temporary server downtime as the new episode is prepared for players. For those in the United States, the servers are expected to be operational again by early morning. European players can expect access by late afternoon, while those in Asia and Australia will gain entry early on February 5. It's important to note that activities associated with Episode: Revenant will cease to be available once Heresy is live, so those looking to complete them should do so before the reset.

When Does the New Dungeon, Sundered Doctrine, Open to Players?

The new Sundered Doctrine dungeon is set to open its doors on February 7. Guardians will venture through the iconic Dreadnaught and eventually reach Rhulk's Pyramid ship. During the first 48 hours, this dungeon will feature a Contest Mode, which presents players with formidable enemies while reducing the effectiveness of their attacks.

For those who complete the dungeon in Contest Mode, special rewards await, including the exclusive contest emblem and additional loot. The competition to become the first team to conquer Sundered Doctrine is intense, with the reward of the prestigious World's First Title and trophy, along with various other prizes.

Spectators can follow the action through Bungie's official World First stream or tune into Twitch to watch popular creators tackle the challenge. Entry into Sundered Doctrine requires players to have completed the Heresy prologue missions and have unlocked the Tablet of Ruin Artifact. Additionally, a Power level of 1,995 or higher is necessary to participate.

New Features in Episode: Heresy

Eris Morn, along with Commander Sloane and the Drifter, needs assistance as they confront troubles aboard the Hive Dreadnaught near Saturn. This location holds history for Guardians, marking their battle against Oryx, the Taken King in Destiny 1. Although players briefly returned during the King's Fall raid in Destiny 2, the Dreadnaught is now fully accessible for exploration.

A fresh activity, The Nether, invites Guardians to delve into the depths of the Dreadnaught. This mission involves battling numerous Taken and Hive forces as players look into the potential resurgence of the Spirit of Oryx. Influenced by The Coil activity from Season of the Wish, The Nether promises engaging challenges for players.

While this episode does not feature any Exotic armor, it introduces two new Exotic weapons. The Barrow-Dyad, a Strand SMG, and the Loadstar, a Primary trace rifle, are the standout additions. The Loadstar is available through the season pass, but the method for acquiring the Barrow-Dyad remains undisclosed. These weapons enrich the gameplay experience, offering exciting options for Guardians to leverage in their missions.
