The best agent composition to play
Pearl, a unique map in Valorant, is characterized by its long, narrow lanes and interconnecting corridors. Players must possess a strong understanding of utility usage to dominate Mid and secure victories. This underwater battleground requires strategic depth and adaptability.
The map's expansive layout suggests that relying on a single controller may not suffice. To effectively control the multiple sightlines and plan mid-round rotations, incorporating two controllers into the team composition can provide greater flexibility and tactical advantage.
Optimal Agent Setup for Pearl
Viper, Astra, Cypher/Chamber, Fade, Raze
Viper
Viper stands out as the primary controller for Pearl. Her Toxic Screen is critical for blocking multiple sightlines, an advantage on a map with such complex areas. For instance, when attacking B site, she can divide it in half and obscure B Tower using Poison Cloud, facilitating early spike plants.
One limitation of Viper is that her Toxic Screen can't be retrieved, and using both Toxic Screen and Poison Cloud simultaneously drains her fuel quickly. This constraint means her team must act swiftly, optimizing the short window these abilities provide.
Astra
Complementing Viper, Astra provides a crucial strategic advantage with her global smoke deployment. This is particularly beneficial given Pearl’s expansive layout. Although she only has four Stars, having Viper in the team compensates for this and allows Astra to thrive.
Her Gravity Well and Nova Pulse can disrupt defenders holding difficult angles, adding another layer of control to the team's tactics.
Cypher/Chamber
Choosing between Cypher and Chamber as the sentinel depends on the team's strategy.
Cypher offers immense utility with his Trapwires and Spycam, ideal for holding flanks and gathering information from afar. His ability to reveal enemy positions can provide crucial intel, making him a versatile pick.
Chamber, on the other hand, excels with long-range dominance. Particularly effective on the B site, his Trademark ability slows enemies and supports powerful defensive holds. His strengths lie in leveraging the Operator from multiple vantage points, offering high control over areas.
Fade
Among initiators, Fade is highly effective on Pearl. Her Prowlers are invaluable for cleaning out tight corners in areas like Mid and A Art, enabling her team to secure these spaces early. Furthermore, her Nightfall ultimate can cover large portions of both spike sites, aiding in powerful executions or site retakes.
Raze
Raze brings additional recon and explosive power. Her Boom Bot complements Fade’s Prowlers in clearing spaces efficiently, while her Paint Shells grenades can pair with Fade’s Seize ability to drive enemies out of hiding spots or deal significant damage.
This combination is popular in professional play, notably in the EMEA region, and Pearl provides an excellent environment for their synergetic playstyle.
