It will be played Saturday, December 18 at 16.00 the tournament „Rebirth Sardinia“, a Call of Duty tournament played by 20 of the greatest Italian professional players and as many young Sardinians with the aim of relaunching a research, supported by the Municipality of Baradili and conducted by Nabui Società Benefit, on the role that video games can have for the rebirth of small communities and sensitive territories.

The tournament, which will be possible to follow on the channels of King Esport, technical partner of the event, will be held virtually in Baradili, the smallest town in Sardinia (76 people) that for the second year invests in esports as a tool for community involvement and fight against isolation.

Rebirth Sardegna is an invitation to „rebirth“, to transmit the positive values of eSport, and to pass on a concept, still very difficult to convey, that is that video games, if placed within a context of awareness and understanding, can be educational tools and aggregation, in line with the use that the new generations make of them.

Even the choice of Call of Duty, one of the most famous shooter video games, responds to the need to transfer a positive message: war is not made, it is played.

Among the professional gamers who will take part in the tournament Rebirth Sardegna also Marco Filograsso, @savyultras90, professional gamer, among the most qualified players at global level, creator and partner of Twitch, Amazon's platform dedicated to entertainment in the world of gaming, who will join one of the boys of Baradili.

The tournament is one of the results of a social innovation project supported by the administration of Baradili and implemented by Nabui Società Benefit, which interprets the game as a tool capable of activating relationships, bringing generations together and acting on psycho-physical well-being especially in contexts of isolation and depopulation.

The project, which began remotely in 2020 during the pandemic, with the involvement of the youth of the community, continued in 2021 with greater strength and with an activity carried out together with the elders of the country: a group of over 60 participated in an experimental program of eSport for the third age curated by Nabui. Through the support of a specialized team in fact, some seniors have used the console to stimulate relationships within the community, shorten the generation gap and get moving from a physical and mental point of view.

„In Baradili we are experimenting with a completely new model of psycho-physical well-being that passes through the observation of new languages and new dynamics of social aggregation,“ said Tomaso Ledda, administrator of Nabui. „In the post-pandemic world, talking about a distinction between virtual space and physical space risks being out of context: one flows into the other organically, understanding this means reinterpreting the concept of community and social cohesion.“

„We strongly believe that the creativity of the young people of the country can be an engine of development and cohesion for the whole community,“ added Marianna Camedda, newly elected mayor of Baradili. „That's why in our programs an important chapter is reserved for the investment in the creation of innovative spaces of aggregation.“
