The First Descendant Inversion Reinforcement
Season 1 of The First Descendant launches on August 29, introducing an innovative progression system known as Inversion Reinforcement. This new mechanism allows players to activate nodes that grant passive bonuses across five major categories, enhancing power and survivability in significant ways.
In addition to this progression system, the update introduces new content, including a character named Hailey Scott, who wields an anti-material sniper rifle for ice-based damage. Players can also engage in fresh activities like the Death Stalker Intercept battle and invasion Dungeon, offering rewarding challenges.
How Inversion Reinforcement Works During The First Descendant Seasons
The new Inversion Reinforcement system in The First Descendant introduces an evolving progression mechanic. This system is embedded into the game's interface as a separate menu node, showcasing different options that players gradually unlock based on their progress. Initially, players will encounter locked options, which open up as they purchase certain numbers of skills, starting with three and then five.
For a deeper layer of complexity, players can unlock the final „Collection Effect“ by purchasing all four skills in a specific line. This effect remains active for the entire season, adding another strategic element to the gameplay. The system is divided into five categories, each offering distinct benefits:
- Hunt: Enhances various stats such as HP and shield bonuses gained after defeating enemies.
- Attribute: Boosts elemental resistances of the player.
- Recovery: Affects the player’s healing abilities.
- Survival: Activates defensive buffs under specific conditions.
- Season: Provides effects tailored for Invasion dungeons.
Initially planned to be a three-month rollout, Season 1’s content was met with disapproval from the player base, who criticized this extended release schedule. Nexon, the game's developer, responded to these concerns by compressing the content timeline. As a result, the final update, which includes new content such as Ultimate Freyna, was rescheduled to be released twenty days earlier, now set for October 10.
Within the rich universe of The First Descendant, players embody Descendants whose primary mission is to safeguard humanity from alien invaders known as The Vulgus. These invaders crossed dimensions more than a century ago, bringing destruction along with colossal entities called Colossi. The story unfolds on Albion and the continent of Ingris, featuring epic narratives that revolve around the strategic importance of the Iron Heart.
The gameplay stands out due to its combination of high-quality graphics powered by Unreal Engine 5, a roster of characters with unique combat styles, and massive boss battles that accommodate up to four players in cooperative play. Players also benefit from free movement and tactical action facilitated by grappling hooks, alongside a wide array of weapons and customization options. This creates a dynamic and engaging experience that continuously evolves with each new season's content and game mechanics.
