Siphon Has Returned

The reintroduction of the Siphon mechanic in Fortnite marks a significant shift in the game's competitive play. Players can now enjoy a gameplay experience that rewards aggression and strategic prowess, as they regain health or shields by dealing damage to opponents. This change, eagerly anticipated by many in the community, reflects ongoing efforts to balance gameplay and enhance the competitive landscape.

With the return of Siphon, Fortnite developers aim to invigorate ranked and competitive modes, providing players with new opportunities to demonstrate their skill. This update promises to reshape strategies and engagements, fostering a fresh and dynamic environment for seasoned competitors and newcomers alike.

Fortnite Siphon Trials Overview

The Fortnite Siphon Trials occur in multiple game modes, including Ranked Battle Royale, Zero Build, and competitive tournaments. These trials introduce weekly variations in Siphon effects, providing different benefits upon eliminating opponents. For players in the first week, the reward is 40 Effective Health, which includes both health and shields. This changes to different values and types of health with each passing week until the conclusion on November 5.

Here is the Siphon Trials Schedule:

  • Week 1 (started today): 40 Effective Health
  • Week 2 (starts October 1): 50 Effective Health
  • Week 3 (starts October 8): 25 Effective Health
  • Week 4 (starts October 15): 75 Health Over Time (No Shield)
  • Week 5 (starts October 22): 50 Health (No Shield)
  • Week 6 (starts October 29): 25 Health, 25 Shield

Epic Games actively monitors player feedback to identify the most effective settings for Siphon. At the end of the six-week period, the developers will choose the preferred setting based on community input.

How the Siphon Works

In Fortnite, the Siphon mechanic offers players a strategic advantage by providing Health and Shield boosts when they eliminate opponents. This feature was integral to competitive play and Arena Mode until its unexpected removal in May 2023. Players actively petitioned for its comeback due to its popularity. After a period spanning a year and several months, the mechanic has been reintroduced, rekindling interest in strategic eliminations.
