CS:GO pro s1mple donates $33000 to support Ukrainian army

It was already known that the conflict between Ukraine and Russia was a subject that was very close to the heart of s1mple, the player of Natus Vincere. Now the player has made a donation to the warring Ukrainian army.

At the end of last week, during the launch ceremony of the IEM Katowice 2022, s1mple had spoken, giving his support to the Ukrainian people. Being Ukrainian himself, he was greatly impacted by the invasion that Russia has undertaken towards his country and his call for peace had made a big noise within the Counter-Strike community. Yesterday, it is in the Instagram story of the player of Natus Vincere that we learn that he has made numerous donations to the army of his country to support them in this conflict strongly affecting the world geopolitics, up to one million Ukrainian hryvnias, or approximately 30,000 euros.

s1mple, along with the rest of the members of Natus Vincere, was present this weekend at the IEM Katowice 2022, where, due to the context and the impact that this war has had on the players of the roster, the team was obviously not in a state to perform at their highest level. In his message of peace, delivered at the opening ceremony of the competition, he said this:

We all want peace – for Ukraine and for the whole world. We are all afraid and we all have to set an example in this tournament. We must stay together as a unit, with our fans, with our friends and with everyone watching. And we must all remain human above all.

However, it is clear that Russian President Vladimir Putin will not stop his offensive, despite the many messages of peace that have surfaced in recent days. s1mple therefore decided to support his country as he could, making donations to the Ukrainian army. The family and friends of the latter are still blocked in Ukraine at the moment, so he could not remain unaffected by this conflict that affects him and his compatriots.

Moreover, we can also note that in view of the context, the presence of NAVI at the IEM Katowice, despite results obviously below expectations, having lost their first match against G2, was a great pledge of bravery. It will have allowed many Ukrainians to keep hope, some of them even watching the game in bomb shelters in Kiev to keep morale up.

Even if s1mple wants peace, he wants above all the well-being of his compatriots. He had announced that even if the esport was not political, he intended to be. These donations are a sign that he invests in order to support his country, which is currently experiencing a situation of the most nightmarish. This conflict, which is at the heart of the news, will continue to evolve, and many members of the esport community, in addition to s1mple, continue to bring their support to the Ukrainian people. As a reminder, the player is one of the biggest stars of CS:GO. He won over $830,000 last year.
