Riot Games launches investigation into TSM owner ‚Reginald‘

Riot Games has launched an investigation into TSM owner Andy ‚Reginald‘ Dinh. The 29-year-old CEO of the esports organization is under investigation for misconduct in the workplace. He is said to bully and verbally abuse employees and players.

The owner is regularly in the news because of his statements. Last season Reginald was fined $5,000 because of a tweet in which he shared his dissatisfaction with then Cloud9 support ‚Vulcan‘. For this he eventually apologized publicly.

Investigation

In a statement, Riot let it be known that a law firm has been brought in to conduct an independent investigation into the allegations of misconduct. The investigation from Riot Games got underway late last year after claims were made that Reginald mistreated players and employees. For example, Doublelift let slip last November about the situation at the team. The former TSM AD Carry voiced complaints about the way Reginald treated players and other employees.

Reginald's behavior

A report by WIRED describes the work culture within TSM by several employees. In the report, employees tell us that there is a culture of fear within the company and that Reginald would regularly reprimand colleagues for hours after making small mistakes. One employee says that the owner sometimes even called people worthless or retarded in order for them to serve as a „bad example.

TSM's CEO has responded to the report. He says that ‚he needs to work on his communication skills towards the team and the people around him‘. In addition, Reginald says he still believes that there is no room for poor performance in an organization like TSM. Therefore, he has no intention of pointing it out when someone is not performing as expected.

By Reginald's reaction, it indicates that it is not over yet. It remains to be seen what the investigation yields and what Riot Games‘ sanctions will be.
