Man Utd Boss Solskjaer Invests in Esports Agency Ulti

The Esports industry continues to attract sporting stars. Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is the latest to get in on the act, with the Norwegian having recently invested in Ulti Agency. The former soccer pro is believed to have purchased a 12.5% stake in the company, alongside sports agent, Jim Solbakken.

How the Ulti Agency Has Grown Quickly

Ulti Agency was only founded in 2020, however they already have a host of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive players and coaches on their books. As well as representing talented gamers, the company aims to provide “marketing advice and branding strategies” to its clients. Having only been operating for 6 months, the organization claims to be one of the few “serious management agencies” in the business today.

The firm hired Jarek “DeKay” Lewis as a media consultant back in February 2020, with the well-known Esports journalist also acting as an agent. EXREMUM’s Joakim “jkaem” Myrbostad, Dignitas duo Haskon “hallzerk” Fjaerli and Jakob “JUGi” Hansen and coaches Jonatan “Devilwalk” Lundberg, Neil “NeiL_M” Murphy and Luis “peacemaker” Tadeu are all signed to Ulti.

What Solskjaer Has Said on the Announcement

It has not been unveiled as to just how much Solskjaer paid for his share in the agency, however their new high profile investor will certainly help to raise their profile. The agency has plans to move into the Asian and South American markets. Speaking on the announcement, United boss Solskjaer stated that:
“Esports have become bigger than anyone would have dared to predict just a few years ago. It spreads the joy of sports worldwide. That is exciting, and Ulti Agency is a company with big plans. They’re all about seeing the players and giving them a chance.” However, Solskjaer is unlikely to have much time for a direct involvement, with the 48-year-old set to leave the decisions to the experts.

Meanwhile, speaking on their new co-owners, the Ulti Agency’s Asgeir Kvalvik said that: “We receive many inquiries from many interesting investors. The coming year will be very exciting for Ulti Agency.”
