New Battle Passes and Rewards
League of Legends is set to enhance the gaming experience by introducing more incentives for its players. Known for its engaging gameplay, the game continues to captivate its community, even as players humorously express both their frustrations and their continual return to the battlefield. This commitment to player engagement is highlighted by the game's upcoming reward structures.
Riot Games aims to strengthen motivation among players through new reward systems that promise to enrich their gaming journey. Although specific details on future battle pass mechanics are not yet known, the promise of additional incentives suggests an exciting evolution of gameplay and engagement, keeping the community eagerly anticipating what's next.
Redesigned League of Legends Rewards Pass
Starting in 2025, League of Legends is introducing an updated rewards system featuring thematic passes corresponding to each season. The first of these seasons will focus on Noxus, offering players a pass and a client interface inspired by this notorious faction. Riot Games aims to simplify the previous intricate reward system, which often overwhelmed players with its many currencies and steps. The new pass is designed to enhance player experience through greater immersion and a deeper connection to the game's lore.
Unlike previous iterations that spanned two patches, the new rewards pass will remain active for four patches, providing players with more time to earn rewards. Players can track and collect rewards in a streamlined manner, consolidating all progress into one convenient location. The updated system includes both a complimentary version and a premium option. The free version offers several rewards, such as a seasonal skin, while the premium pass grants additional exclusive rewards.
As players engage with the game, they accumulate experience points for their rewards pass through various missions. In 2025, these missions will undergo changes to enhance engagement and thematic consistency. Expect to encounter daily, weekly, act-long events, and mastery challenges. These missions are crafted not only to reduce generic objectives like „deal 10k damage“ but also to encourage playing specific champions in keeping with the season's theme. This approach aims to integrate the gameplay experience more closely with the rich narrative of League of Legends.
For players with limited gaming time, the redesigned system is more accommodating. It provides ample opportunities to progress and earn rewards without the need for daily play, ensuring that all players can enjoy the content at their own pace. This inclusive approach reflects Riot Games‘ commitment to making the League of Legends experience both rewarding and accessible to a diverse player base.
League of Legends Reward Passes
The revamped League of Legends reward pass introduces an innovative structure for achieving rewards. Event Shop and Tokens have been eliminated, streamlining the process so players can directly earn everything through the pass itself. The good news is that pricing for these passes remains unchanged at present.
Complimentary Reward Track
Every player has access to a complimentary track in the reward pass. Without any financial commitment, players can secure roughly nine skins annually, including three from the Victorious series at the conclusion of each segment. Riot aims to increase this number to at least 12 skins, aided by the Victorious skins.
Skin shards will only be available through purchasing or acquiring Hextech Chests and other Event Loot. Players’ existing shards will remain safe in their inventories. Through regular gameplay, players can earn two exclusive skins per season. Reaching level 20 awards a unique, season-themed skin that cannot be rerolled. At level 45, players receive a random skin valued at 975RP or less.
Full Reward List for the Complimentary Track:
- One Earnable, Thematic Skin Permanent
- One Random Skin (975 RP or below)
- One Title
- Two Emotes
- Two Mystery Emotes
- Three Icons
- Two Mystery Icons
- Four Champion Capsules
- 4750 Blue Essence (with endless repeatable levels after finishing the main track)
Goals not completed within the pass timeframe can be caught up on by purchasing remaining levels. Importantly, progress is preserved even if a player doesn’t buy the pass at the season’s start.
League of Legends Premium Reward Track
A premium track is available for those choosing to invest monetarily, delivering enhanced rewards. One highlight is the Seasonal Prestige skin, alongside an array of other enticing items, such as additional skins, some unique to the paid track, and rarer cosmetics.
Rewards Included in the Premium Track:
- All items from the Complimentary Track
- Three Ancient Sparks
- One Prestige Skin
- Three Additional Reward Skins
- Three Borders
- Seven Loot Orbs
- One Banner
- One Ward Skin
- Two Extra Emotes
- Two Additional Icons
- 1000 Orange Essence (with a repeatable bonus of 25 OE for every 5 levels beyond level 50)
Players who go for the premium track unlock a richer variety of items, providing tangible in-game benefits and a sense of exclusive achievement. This structure encourages both engagement and participation across the League of Legends community.
Changes to Recognition and Recognition Levels
The recognition system in League of Legends is set for notable changes in 2025. The previous evaluation system has evolved, as recognition levels will now directly influence how players are rewarded in the game. Players with higher recognition levels will enjoy increased progression in their pass experience and additional in-game bonuses. These include privileges that exist, such as access to in-game and post-game chat functionalities. New features will also be introduced, among them targeted pings and emotes, as well as an increase in the number of pings allowed each minute.
Poor conduct or disruptive behavior in matches will lead to a low recognition level, restricting access to these features. Unlike the past, recognition levels are no longer reset and will instead provide a true reflection of a player's conduct within the game. Consequently, the Recognition Shop and Recognition Tokens will no longer be available.
The current season brings „Three Honors Shen.“ This reward will be automatically given to players achieving the highest recognition level. Riot Games plans to release all available recognition skins in the shop, allowing players to use any remaining Tokens. Once the Recognition Shop closes later in Season One, all surplus Tokens will transform into 2,000 Blue Essence each. Existing recognition skins will then become a one-time achievement unlocked by attaining the highest recognition level in the future, streamlining this aspect of player rewards.
Prestige Skins: More Distinctive Than Ever
In 2025, the reimagining of Prestige skins will see them become truly unique items. Unlike the past where these iconic skins had non-prestige counterparts, the new approach emphasizes creating completely distinct versions. This shift is aimed at enhancing their exclusivity and elevating their quality. Players can expect these skins to be not only rare but also crafted with exceptional detail, adding to their allure in the gaming community.
Discontinuation of Premium Chests
Riot Games is eliminating Masterwork Chests from the League of Legends ecosystem due to an abundance of new rewards that make them unnecessary. This shift will occur in two distinct phases.
Phase One marks the initial change, with Masterwork Chests being removed from the Store. This change will take effect with patch version 25.S1.1 on January 6, 2025. During this phase, the use of these chests as rewards in Battle Passes and Ranked Rewards will also wind down.
Phase Two sees a further step as the Masterwork Milestone track will be phased out following Season 1 Act 1, concluding on March 5, 2025, with patch 25.S1.5. Upon this deactivation, all rewards already earned in the track will be automatically claimed by the players. It's important to note that progression on the milestone track is only possible by opening Masterwork Chests, and any unopened ones will not contribute towards advancement.
After the completion of Phase Two, any remaining Masterwork Chests in a player's inventory will stay unopened indefinitely. Players can still purchase Hextech keys to unlock other types of chests, as Hextech Chests will remain the most affordable option for acquiring new skins.
Champion Mastery Rewards
In 2025, League of Legends introduces a new twist, merging Champion Mastery with the Battle Pass system. This change is intended to enhance the rewards experience and is especially targeted at improving gameplay elements like ARAM. Mastery levels and points remain integral, with the introduction of missions displayed in the objective panel. Players will always have access to an active mission, akin to daily goals, alongside others focusing on achieving larger mastery milestones.
There's a structured list of missions associated with Champion Mastery:
- Mission 1: Complete a mastery milestone on any champion (repeatable)
- Mission 2: Achieve Mastery milestone 4 on any champion (once per season)
- Mission 3: Finish 12 milestones in the Mastery Set (once per season)
Bonus Missions also offer further challenges:
- Bonus Mission 1: Complete 24 milestones in the Mastery Set (once per season)
- Bonus Mission 2: Reach 40 milestones in the Mastery Set (once per season)
These missions not only reward individual progress but also contribute significantly to Battle Pass advancement, providing players diverse incentives to focus on their champion expertise. A clear visual of champion mastery levels is available through the official platform, adding an appealing and competitive edge to the gameplay.
Event, Showcase, and Mythic Variant Capsules
In 2025, significant modifications are taking place regarding League of Legends‘ reward systems. Riot Games is focusing on simplifying these processes to enhance the user experience. Mythic Variants are being moved to The Sanctum, bringing a new tiered reward system where players can use Ancient Sparks. Additionally, a form of protection is included to ensure players achieve results within 40 attempts, which provides a fairer experience.
There’s also a shift away from having multiple types of capsules, with unpopular Showcase capsules being phased out. The restructuring sees only event orbs and standard capsules remaining in the rewards system. These changes aim to streamline the system and offer a less confusing and more enjoyable experience for players.
