LGD Back to Dota 2024

In a significant development for the Dota 2 esports landscape, LGD Gaming has re-entered the competitive arena. The organization, which commands a strong presence and reputation within the Dota community, has ended its brief hiatus and is poised to once again make an impact on the game’s professional circuit.

The announcement, which was disseminated across LGD Gaming’s social media channels, has stirred excitement among fans and fellow competitors. With a storied history that includes a strong showing at The International 2023, the team's resurgence is highly anticipated as they aim to reclaim their position as a formidable force within the Dota 2 esports sphere.

LGD Takes a Step Back from Dota 2 Circuit

LGD Gaming, a heralded force in the Dota 2 esports scene, has decided to put their team on hold. Following The International 2023, the departure of players NothingToSay and planet signaled the start of a decline in LGD's in-game dominance. The turning point came with the shift of their midlaner, Emo, to a non-competing role and the inclusion of Setsu. However, the team's trajectory did not improve, leading to LGD declaring a temporary cessation of their team's activities just two months post these changes.

The move has sparked various theories. Official statements from LGD attribute the hiatus to subpar achievements, signaling a time of reassessment. On the other hand, chatter within the Chinese Dota 2 community hints at financial troubles preventing the payment of player salaries. Nevertheless, rumors of LGD eyeing a return have surfaced too, particularly with the potential acquisition of new sponsorships and a rumored roster revamp centering around their midlane position.

LGD Confirms Return to Competitive Dota 2

LGD Gaming has made a comeback announcement on their official social channels. As anticipated by the community, there has been a strategic update to their lineup with the introduction of Xu „Echo“ Ziliang as the new midlaner, taking over from Setsu. This adjustment stands as the sole change, while the rest of the team remains intact. Preparations are well underway, with the team uniting for practice sessions.

The updated LGD team roster stands as:

  • Position 1: Guo „shiro“ Xuanang
  • Position 2: Xu „Echo“ Ziliang
  • Position 3: Li „niu“ Kongbo
  • Position 4: Xiong „Pyw“ Jiahan
  • Position 5: Zhang „y`“ Yiping

Anticipation builds as the modified squad is expected to debut in the upcoming Riyadh Masters 2024 open qualifiers, following the conclusion of this season's major tournaments.
