How Custom Skins

Adding custom skins to League of Legends can enhance the visual experience for players seeking variety beyond the standard offerings. These third-party modifications provide new aesthetics and can be applied through external applications, allowing players to personalize their gameplay.

While using custom skins is against League of Legends‘ terms, they remain a popular choice for those looking to tailor their in-game appearance. Importantly, these skins are only visible to the player unless others have the same customization, with no impact on gameplay mechanics, ensuring a fair play environment.

League of Legends Custom Skins Guide

Obtain the Right Manager for CS-LoL

The first step in modding League of Legends involves acquiring the CS-LoL manager. To do so, navigate to the official GitHub page dedicated to this tool. Once there, users need to download the appropriate file from the most recent release options. For those operating on Windows, options include downloading either a .exe or a .zip file. MacOS users should seek out the .tar.xz file instead.

After downloading the right file, run it to initiate the installation process. If a .zip file was chosen, extract its contents into a chosen directory to proceed.

Acquire and Locate LoL Custom Skins

Runeforge.dev serves as a prominent destination for downloading custom skins for League of Legends. By visiting this site, players can scroll through various custom skins and choose their preferred ones. It’s important to note that skins are marked with statuses, such as „Working,“ which denotes compatibility. However, occasional updates to League of Legends could disrupt this compatibility.

Once a skin is found to be functional, users can click the Download button, which will provide a .fantome file. This file can be safely stored anywhere on the computer, making it easy to locate during the next steps.

Implement the Modification

It's essential to ensure that all modifications are set up before entering a game. Once a match is about to load, changes cannot be applied without restarting the game client.

To enable these skins, the CS-LoL manager must be launched. Users should drag the targeted .fantome file into the manager’s window. After the skin appears on the list of modifications, ticking the checkbox next to the desired mod will enable it.

When all the desired custom skins are selected, activating them involves pressing the ▶ button located at the top right corner. The Status bar will eventually indicate „Waiting for league match to start.” Players are then free to start the game queue. It’s not necessary to repeat this entire process before every match, only when new skins are added or existing selections are modified.

Typically, these skins replace the default appearance of characters, such as Seraphine’s Classic skin. Often, these mods also alter the loading screen portrait, serving as confirmation of successful loading. Upon entering the game, if everything is executed correctly, the player’s champion should display the custom skin.
