JasonR, one of the biggest VALORANT streamers, accused of sexism by many female players

If you know the VALORANT streamers or if you are in the CS: GO community, the name of JasonR should be familiar to you. Today, it is a major controversy that hits the player, accused of repeated sexism.

On VALORANT as on many online games, female players are often victims of sexist acts and toxicity. These insults, harassments and others are serious and obviously forbidden within the game, but this does not prevent some people from committing them. It is however much more surprising to see a very big streamer of the community being accused of such acts, and this even in stream, when all his viewers are watching him. This streamer is JasonR. Jason Ruchelski, real name, is a former professional Counter-Strike player, who upon the release of VALORANT decided to make the transition to Riot's game by becoming a content creator. Recently, many professional players and community members have denounced his sexist behavior, which he sometimes performs even in the middle of a stream.

The controversy first started on Twitter, when many professional players began to denounce JasonR's actions. We can find Annie, the player of C9 White or even CozyJosie and many others, announcing that the latter, during his games in ranked, whether in stream or not, systematically mute the players present in his games or dodge the game. In stream, he even puts his camera in full screen, so that he can do this without his viewers noticing. In order to dodge games, he sometimes even uses loss of connection as an excuse, as can be seen in a clip of the Sentinels‘ streamer/professional player, SicK, after a player has spoken in the voice chat in the pre-game lounge.

These behaviors don't stop there, however, as on his streams, many women have been sexist banned by the streamer and his wife and also recurrently calls his female viewers „prostitutes“ during his streams.

All these behaviors are obviously not to be reproduced and are punishable by law, so it's not surprising to see this case take such a magnitude. JasonR is very well known and watched by many young people, so it's serious to hold this kind of comments, especially in front of his youngest fans, who can be easily influenced. At the moment, JasonR's only response comes from his stream where he categorically refutes these accusations, claiming that his game crashes in cases where he is accused of dodging the games. So we'll have to keep a close eye on the situation in the coming days.
