Honkai Star Rail 4.2: Welt Novaflare Buffs

If you use Welt in Honkai: Star Rail, Version 4.2 brings important changes you need to understand. The upcoming Novaflare update strengthens his overall performance and adds a new debuff called Weightless to his kit.

Welt has been part of the roster since launch, but this update refreshes his role with adjustments that can shift how you build and play him. Knowing how Weightless works and how his buffs interact with his abilities will help you get more value from him in current team setups.

When Does Welt Receive His Enhancement?

You can access Welt’s Novaflare upgrade when Version 4.2 launches on April 22, 2026. The update applies his improvements immediately after the patch goes live.

Alongside Welt’s changes, Version 4.2 also introduces:

  • The Elation Path for the Trailblazer
  • Two new 5-star characters: Silver Wolf Lv.999 and Evanescia

Make sure you update your game client to activate the changes.

Welt’s Novaflare buffs

Welt keeps his Basic ATK and Technique unchanged, but the rest of his kit shifts toward stronger control and higher personal damage. You can now field him more comfortably alongside units like Acheron, while also considering him as a direct damage dealer.

Skill – Edge of the Void

Change Before After
Number of Bounces 2 5
Total Energy 30 30
Energy per Hit 10 6

His Skill now strikes up to five times, increasing its coverage and consistency against multiple enemies. Although each hit restores less Energy, the total Energy gained stays the same.

Ultimate – Synthetic Black Hole

  • Keeps a 100% base chance to Imprison enemies hit.
  • Reduces action delay from 44% to 15%.
  • Applies Weightless to all enemies for 2 turns.

When you attack a target affected by Weightless, their action advances more slowly by 4% per hit, up to eight triggers per target each turn. This creates steady turn disruption instead of a single heavy delay.

Talent – Time Distortion

  • Weightless enemies suffer a DEF reduction.
  • Hitting Slowed targets now deals 125% Imaginary DMG instead of 75%.

These adjustments counter recent Nihility power shifts while giving you a flexible option for both control-focused and damage-oriented builds.

Welt’s New Major Traces

Welt’s updated Major Traces push you to build around Weightless and high Effect Hit Rate.

  • Retribution: When your allies attack enemies afflicted with Weightless, they deal 6% more damage per stack, up to 15 stacks for 2 turns. You also start battle with 30 Energy, which lets you access your Ultimate sooner.
  • Judge: Every time you use your Basic ATK or Skill, you trigger an extra hit of Additional DMG on the target.
  • Punishment: If your Effect Hit Rate exceeds 40%, every extra 10% grants 20% ATK, up to 80%. Your Ultimate also restores 5 Energy.

Welt’s Revised Eidolon Effects

You no longer gain the previous Enhanced state from E1, which shifts how you plan his early Eidolon investment.

  • Legacy of Honor: When you strike enemies affected by Weightless, you trigger an extra damage instance.
  • Appellation of Justice: Targets in the Weightless state suffer reduced All-Type RES.
  • Prospect of Glory: Your Skill and Ultimate gain higher CRIT Rate and CRIT DMG against Slowed enemies.

Other Eidolons remain unchanged with the 4.2 update.
