Hearthstone Battlegrounds introduces Battlegrounds Buddies

Hearthstone Battlegrounds is going to work according to a new system: Battlegrounds Buddies! Each hero will get a unique buddy in addition to the hero power. This buddy is a minion that you earn by completing small tasks in the game. The system will start with the next update on January 25, 2022.

How it works

Hearthstone Battlegrounds will introduce Battlegrounds Buddies with the next update. Each hero will have a unique buddy. This buddy is a minion with a certain ability that matches a hero's hero power or tactics. The minions range from tier 2 to tier 4 and can be neutral or of a certain minion type.

The buddies must be earned. On the left side of the hero portrait is a bar.

This bar is filled by completing certain tasks in the game. This can be by doing damage on enemy minions, popping divine shields, or starting a combat, winning, or drawing a draw. When the bar is halfway filled, you get the first copy of the buddy on hand. When the bar is fully filled, you get two more copies of the buddy. So by leaving the first copy of the buddy on hand or on the field until the bar is completely filled, you can triplet the buddy. In the event that you do not have enough room on your hand to add the buddy, the game waits to give you the buddy until you do have the room. So you can't miss out on the buddy by having too many cards in your hand.

In any case, the new system will take some getting used to in order to come up with the best tactics. If you do not yet play Hearthstone Battlegrounds, January 25 is a perfect time to start.
